Botox or plastic surgery, would you do it?

I was watching house hunters on hgtv last night.  The house hunter was a woman about my age, 48.  She was attractive, but you could tell she'd had Botox and maybe some other stuff done to her face.  Her face had that frozen, poofy look that makes me laugh a little.  She'd also had a nicly enhanced bosom.  I could go for the enhanced bosom for myself, but I can't stand the frozen Botox look.

Sigourney Weaver said she had Botox done once, but her husband and sons laughed and made so much fun of her that she'll never do it again.

i see "lifestyle lift" advertised on tv a lot.  I think that is a partial facelift.  I would do something like that down the line as well if I had the money.

So, would you ever do plastic surgery?  Have you known anyone who has done it?  My friends boss went to somewhere in the Bahama's, where it's cheap, and had a bunch of stuff done all at once.  Bosom job, tummy tuck, butt lift, face lift...it was crazy!  She came home with a pretty bad infection, but otherwise the work she had done seemed like it was good.  At least, she got herself a younger, hot boyfriend.

I wouldn't be able to afford such things even if I did want it. If I were to get it, though, it would be a lift in the chest area later on in life, I'm sure, lol. Nothing with the face, though. It's not like I have a pretty face or anything, but I just wouldn't want to start messing with that type of thing on my face. I actually don't personally know a single person who has had any cosmetic work done.
Date: 10/18/2012 8:29:00 AM  From Authorid: 64365    I would never do Botox, and I wouldn't get boob implants. But, anything else that might make me feel a little more attractive, I am totally all for. What difference is there between it and putting on makeup or getting a hairstyle...?
Date: 10/18/2012 8:31:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    SailorSun, I think Meg Ryan is a good example of to much surgery. She totally ruined her looks, it's only been in the last year that her face seems to have settled back into a more natural appearance.
Date: 10/18/2012 8:32:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    Nani, I wouldn't get implants, but a life would be nice!
Date: 10/18/2012 8:33:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    "Lift" not life.
Date: 10/18/2012 9:13:00 AM  From Authorid: 64365    LOL...Kelly, a LIFE would be nice for me, too
Date: 10/18/2012 9:28:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    LOL. I believe they call that a Freudian slip?
Date: 10/18/2012 10:15:00 AM  From Authorid: 61966    I wouldn't mind the Bosom implants but defintely not a face lift or botox. A lot of those actresses have ruined their faces with plastic surgery and botox. And going to another country for the work...well thats just nuts! There is too much risk having it done somewhere else. Plus, I heard of this woman who got Botox from mexico, after it was injected..she went into her hottub and drown! Apparently the botox was bad and ended up paralyzing her whole body!!
Date: 10/18/2012 10:19:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    B&B, I agree. I wouldn't go out of the country either. As for the Botox thing, that's scary! I guess there are risks with any surgery, Kanye West's mom died after having a tummy tuck...On second thought, maybe I don't want any work. I'd feel foolish dying because of a boob lift!
Date: 10/18/2012 10:21:00 AM  From Authorid: 61966    LoL, your family would have to say it was something else!!
Date: 10/18/2012 10:22:00 AM  From Authorid: 61966    The only way I'd truly ever get plastic surgery is if I really needed it. Like in my moms case, she had gastric bypass and she's going to need skin removal in the future.
Date: 10/18/2012 10:26:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    Oh yeah, in your mothers case I can see why that would be important to have done. How much weight did she lose?
Date: 10/18/2012 10:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 61966    Kelly, so far she has lost 80 pounds. She has actually had a lot of complications, but she is finally getting better. She was wearing a size 28 and now in a 16-18!
Date: 10/18/2012 10:39:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    Wow, that is great! Good for her.
Date: 10/18/2012 12:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 27705    not unless it was because i truly needed it (like if i was in a bad accident or something) otherwise no thanks i will stick to being me
Date: 10/18/2012 1:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 49091    I have the WEIRDEST wrinkle mark between my eyebrows that Id LOVE to have Botoxed out!!!! Im only 23, but maybe one day :-p Also, I have debated a breast reduction.....yes....reduction. I dont like not being able to find swim tops and dress shirts and such that fit right....ugh
Date: 10/18/2012 1:29:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    Got bubbles, I think that is understandable about the reduction. I had a friend get it done and she felt so much better.
Date: 10/18/2012 1:31:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    Gross AO!
Date: 10/18/2012 1:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 26303    At this stage in my life (49yrs) I'll say no. I don't like the false look of Botox. Admittedly, at first people often don't notice..it can be subtle. But the person who received it rarely can stop at one session...it's the session after session that gives them the false look. As a general rule anyway...
Boob job? Nope to that too. I don't want to be in the nursing home with perfect bosoms and the rest of me wrinkled like a prune...lol.
So many botched jobs done overseas too. Your friend was lucky the infection didn't get worse, many Aussies have learnt the hard way.
As much as I'm not like the ravages of time on my body, hair dye is as far as I'm prepared to go at the moment. I won't say never, cos you just don't know. So I'll stick with the line, not at this stage...lol
Good post!

Date: 10/18/2012 1:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 26303    Oh, forgot to say...unless I had some kind of accident, where it was necessary. I definately would then. I guess really plastic surgery covers so much, and for some it is what they need for quality of life...
Date: 10/18/2012 2:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    I've had several life saving surgeries and I'm just so happy to be alive...I have had a great life and a wonderful husband and very happy within myself..I have a lot of character lines etc on my face and neck, but hey, that is me, what you see is what you get LOL!!..but in saying that, I can understand how people who are not happy with their looks etc want to keep younger looking, it's just not for me, I think young heheheeee. I saw a lady on tv from over in the USA and my gosh, she has had so many facelifts that her face now looks distorted..scary.

I'm all for the people who have been disfigured from whatever having these surgeries done, gives them something to live for to look nice..

Date: 10/18/2012 4:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 36901    I would have a breast reduction in a heartbeat. I have to wear shirts several sizes too big just to accomodate them (lol). My shirts are so big the short sleeves go down to my elbows.
Date: 10/18/2012 4:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 48250    I knew Meg Ryan looked different but didn't know she had had the cosmetic surgery Hmmmm....I don't think I'd have it unless it was medically necessary in all instances & I believe that it should be affordable to all when medically necessary, too....I said to a good friend of mine, when every one else is going through the change & going half crazy at least some of the time....she just goes & has a boob job!!! I thought she was gonna fall over, she laughed so much! xx's
Date: 10/19/2012 4:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 11240    I would not do either.

God Bless.

Date: 10/21/2012 10:06:00 AM  From Authorid: 64723    The only surgery i want is a reduction. other then that, eh. i figure if people are too shallow to like me for my personality i probably dont want to be around them anyway.
