I have been reading this great book called "A Renegade's Guide to God by David Foster" here are some good quotes with page numbers.
pg 121- "He came not to enlighten the mind but to renovate the heart"
pg 123- "Religon is like trying to swim with a rock around your neck. Conversion is like conquering gravity"
pg 61- " When I say I am a Christian, I am not advancing an ancient European religous system. I'm not into rule based religon drenched in dry doctrinal distinctions which have no relation to reality.
Religon is small and restrictive. It divides people. It draws the circle small shuts the wrong kind of people out.
Christianity draws the circle large to include as many as possible."
pg 107 "Self-help salvation has two fundamental flaws; first it underestimates the seriousness of sin and second, it woefully overestimates my ability to change.
I really like this book alot and would suggest it to anyone who is looking for a path outside of conventional christianity and the inclusive nature of the varied religous doctrines.
