Bright Lights, A Dead Bird and Mysterious Footprints

Last night I remember waking up to the sound of my mother walking up the stairs. 3 or 4 minutes later she walked back down and went in her room and closed her door and went to bed. 2 minutes later I remember my cat Spike meowing very loud and persistantly. I was hoping he would shut up so I could go back to sleep. Then he stopped meowing, and less than a minute later I saw 3 bright flashes of white light outside. I thought it was lightning and layed there for a good while waiting to see if it would lightning again... nothing. So I finally fell asleep. This morning I woke up and there was a dead bird in the driveway, feathers all over the place. No blood and no bones, but there were strange footprints all around the feathers... in the shape of 4 circular impressions in the dirt. There was a trail of feathers that went off into the bushes, and trees and limbs were snapped and thrown around. We have heard strange noises around the area today, and while typing this... as I was typing about thie flashes of light, the light in the kitchen mysteriously turned on. And just now my cat is at the french doors in the entry way scratching and clawing at the glass.... What is going on here? Any hints? Suggestions? Tips? Thanks!

I feel like I'm on some kind of backwards episode of Scare Tactics..
