Gay marriage. Yes, that is what the world has been waiting for, his change of heart and evolution on gay marriage. |

I say put Congress on minimum wage, only one week paid vacation, and health insurance took out of their check. Won't be all that drastic a change in the debt but it's a start. I also say legalize marijuana, and tax it high to start with, this will open up new jobs all around, which will allow more taxes to be acquired. |

Your title describes the impasse that our politicians have created. Politics is now so partisan that Democrats won't support anything Republican and visa-verse . With the politicians unable to agree on just about anything, our deficit increases at a ridiculous rate. Ultimately this will result in inflation. Every year that goes by without some sort of budget control, will amplify the correction when it comes. I think that the US is going to experience a sever recession because both of the political parties. |

Ok, we can't put congress on minimum wage, they would be more apt to take bribes and be more corrupt than they are now. And why not cut the butt load of funding dedicated to foreign aid? Or just not forgive the foreign debt year after year. The program for the telephone assistance is called Lifeline, because you need a phone to dial 911, you need a phone to have a perspective employer call you for an interview and things like that. Also, that program is funded by a federal surcharge that everyone with a phone pays. It does not come out of general tax money. The same type of surcharge that pays for 911 services and infrastructure maintenance. And yes, just because something doesn't matter to EVERYONE doesn't mean it's not a topic or issue that really does matter. 10% of the population are in the LGBT community, they all have parents, siblings and/or friends. The issue of gay marriage is important to everyone of those people, all together almost 30% of the population. I'd say that's enough people to make it a real issue. |
Date: 5/11/2012 9:40:00 PM From Authorid: 34078 Money is a funny thing. Ever loan it someone? They never pay it back. If it was a shovel they'd return it. When it comes to money, it's gone with the wind. |
Date: 5/11/2012 9:45:00 PM From Authorid: 34078 Money was invented because it's convenient and easier to steal. Barter system: try stealing a bunch of chickens and keep them in a 'safe'. It takes longer for money to become stale and worthless. |
Date: 5/11/2012 9:57:00 PM From Authorid: 65974 always a hot topic but we do need to legalized pot as it could save like $7 billion every year by not having to enforce and fight the war on these type of drugs, and the tax would put an additional $6 billion each year to help lower the national dept, that's like a 13 billion swing. plus we need major reforms on tax and spending from the top on down and no more hidden earmarks, the people should know how it is being spent! |

Date: 10/11/2012 9:54:00 PM From Authorid: 16671 I like what ryan had to say tonight, that is when biden wasn't butting in or scoffing, but to make the rich Pay MORE or all of their own health care, the middle class acccording to income and the poor pays nothing at all. Since Obama who wants to help the poor and the old on social security got into office one year he gave us a whole 200 dollars that year, then it was o next year o cost of living raise. This year I'm told even that is going to be BUMPED. Yep I can see him helping us old disabled people on social security, paid for by money my husband and myself worked for all our lives. I say vote Romney/Ryan this year. I know I will. OH and hi to all my usm friend love deb |
Date: 10/14/2012 5:47:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228 Firstborn, Obama made my point marvelously with the whole war on big bird. Sesame Street generates hundreds of millions of dollars in sales...yet they can't get by without a government grant. Liberals will not allow one thing to be cut without throwing a fit! You know what else is funny? Ireland has no gay marriage. Just thought I'd throw that in since that is where DP is from and it seems so important to him. |

While I oppose all government spending on items not specifically enumerated in either the Constitution or its amendments what is going to bankrupt our nation is healthcare expenses. Yes, the subsidation of illegitimate children is also doing our nation harm. After nearly a half century of the Great Society the percentage of Americans living under the poverty line has remained unchanged. We have had two Presidents in a row who have found political success by playing Santa Claus, handing out goodies without funding them, our children and grandchildren will pay for our selfishness. |
Date: 12/27/2015 3:26:00 AM From Authorid: 13283 Kelly I want to add my 2 cents worth . The government and media loooooove to bring up welfare and other supplements / aids that go to the poor . Yes 668 billion is spent on welfare and other programs to assist the poor each year . What you do not know is that an astronomical amount of money we pay in taxes goes to banks and other fortune 500 companies . When the US bailed the banks out taxpayers had to pay 632 billion to help the banks on top of what we already contribute to banks . They were giving bankers 1 million dollar bonuses supposedly to retain top talent . If your bank is losing billions I don't consider you top talent . Congress was able to recoup some of this bonus pay . What the banks take away from us through taxes is no where near what we pay and put towards welfare . Banks are not honest . The government and media distract you by bringing up the welfare card all the time . The banks are the ones committing crime against humanity . |
