I can still recal the playing on a string harp at the ruins of the castle by supposedly a "minstrel" long dead, whose singing des accompany some of "his" selections". He comes and goes but if one waits long enough on a "calm night, one will be rewarded. The castle itself, composed mainly of dark stones, involves one of England's worse kings, debateable, and it's greatest document, personal opinion, looks impressive having viewed several times. King John had to spent his only night there, in the castle, the day before he signed the "Magna Carter in 1215 BCE.Somw say his stay was so horrible to him for what he was basically being forced to sign, that there are times that a voice is heard complaing of things like rooms being too cold, servants being too slow, fires not giving enough heat, etc. Info. was obtained on a couple of visits to the castle when I was over there some years ago.
