You could kinda say that I never really 'left'. I have just been busy as people tend to get when we grow up and life takes us away from things that once used to occupy us. That's my sly way of admitting I have a facebook addition :P I have been browsing USM a lot lately. I still keep in touch with a lot of USMers and talk to many daily. (via FB) So for those of you that have wondered where I have been I will try to give you a short update but it probably won't be that short. 1. I applied for nursing school for the last time and didn't get in. So I changed my major to information technology with a minor in computer science. I like to do stuff on computers so I think I will be content with the career path. I know a lot of my nursing professors have several degrees in different fields and who knows, maybe I'll go back later for nursing. But I felt that I have been rejected too many times and it's the universe telling me I'm not meant to be a nurse or the time is not right. So I just want to get a degree and get started on a career.
My sister, Hobbit Chic, had a baby last year and I am the proud aunt of my first born nephew. He is so precious and I love him so much. I hate that we are so many states away from one another.
I currently hold a pageant title for the state of texas and I will be competing at nationals at the end of June for the national title and scholarship money. I'm very excited. This system is fairly new and when I started Texas only had 2 queens and we now have 4 and possibly 5 by tomorrow. I have also recruited an out of state queen. I am very proud of my 'marketing' skills I am also doing a state pageant in August that I am looking forward to because it is a pretty prestigious pageant system.
I am currently still dealing with issues related to my bad car wreck many of you know I had in 2007. I have a lot of stomach problems. I saw a GI doctor in the summer of 2010 and had an endoscopy done and they misdiagnosed me with gastritis and I kinda just avoided doctors altogether for a while. My stomach problems have gotten worse and I have missed a lot of class due to them so we are in the process of diagnosing me. I'm currently being treated for spastic colon but I am not sure that's it. They just changed my medicine and so I just started it yesterday. I'm beginning to think I have Crohn's or Celiacs....I hate this wait and see game.
I still have my orange tabby cat Bebe. He is larger than life but sweet as sugar. <3 He's my little baby and I'm sure you'll several pictures of him in future posts.
Yesterday/Today I did Race for the Cure. I ran some and walked some. I did this in Houston in 2010 and it was fun but today's event was SO MUCH MORE fun than the last time. I don't know if it's because this time I represented the state of Texas (I wore my pageant sash to the event) and people are more proud of Texas or what. But I had a great time. I walked in honor of my cousin who is currently battling breast cancer for the second time and many of my family members who lost the battle against various cancers.
Also, I am currently hosting a toy drive to benefit the kids at Texas Children's Hospital. I am doing this for the entire month of April and I will be delivering the items in early-mid May. If you are interested in helping do to this cause please contact me via PM. I would love to have the help of fellow USMers!
So I think that is all. I just wanted to make a quick post about 'returning'. I hope everyone is doing well!
