1) Securing our borders is not just for illegals, but for terrorists and the drug cartals. What shoould stop an al-qaeda cell coming over here from the Mexican border and placing themselves in Los Angelas or major ports on the west coast and causing serious damage to our cities? 2) California Govenor signed the dream act allowing Illegals to state and public funds for college. You as a taxpayer in California are paying for some illegal student to get money that could and should go to a legal college student. 3) We are seeing a major swing in our culture of America. Listen to any phone message and it's press 1 for English, 2 for spanish. We are slowly becoming a Mexican/Spanish country. Also notice how many Mexican places are popping up in the cities and suburban areas. 4) If we do not document who's coming over, why do we care who gets on airplanes, why are whites, the grandmas and grandpas, people with disabilities, and kids being patted down and traumatized at airports? 5) Our country has been sold out and no one gives a crying shame. I say let all the Mexicans come here, and we all go down to Mexico and start all over with the United States dream. Soon Canada will be over run with us fleeing this country. |

Date: 11/21/2011 12:37:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 30051 Whites? So your only an American if you white? Traumatized? Really? I was flying to Alaska and my two year old baby was wearing overalls and they had metal buckles, so she set off the alarm. Well the had to frisk her. She stood there with her arms out to the side getting frisked. Do you know what was going through my mind?? How freaking cute! I wish I had a camara!! It was too cute. Was she tramatized?? Should I put her in theripy? Also I said NOTHING about securing our borders or the border patrol. Why would we flee this country? Acording to you this place never should of went with the "melting pot" nickname..GO WHITEY |

You think it's cute for your kid to get patted down when you know they have no security danger to the airplane? How about those people who have been traumatized by the TSA officals? You think it's cute when that guy peed himself cause they messed with his medical equipment. Illegals come through unsecured borders...We need to secure our borders |

Yeah, she looked cute! She was so little and she just assumed the pose..I guess when you come from a family like mine getting patted down isn't a big deal. Again, I never said we shouldn't secure our borders!! Are you even reading what I say?? Did you just see the word illegals and off you went? |

The short answer is that a country is partially defined by its borders. If we allow unlimited immigration when we already have record unemployment then what do we do with more people? Should the federal government pay them in welfare and unemployment? How do we feed the people who come here? Look at you local food closet and figure out what it would be like if you doubled the number waiting for assistance. Our country is suffering right now, and I don't think we can absorb more people at the moment. Think about it like a lifeboat. If it's crowded already and there isn't enough food, would you take people from a different lifeboat and welcome them to yours? |
Date: 11/21/2011 2:27:00 PM From Authorid: 48250 I don't think any one will hate you for expressing your feelings, opinion hon.....I see alot of good points in what you are saying, there's a lot wrong with our government....and I agree with reference to the child molestors, I've been trying to figure out myself, why molestors, pedophiles, child killers, women and children beaters are not locked behind bars, malicious drug dealers are slapped on the wrist and let go by our judges, while they arrest lil old ladies and old men who cannot afford housing and their medicines both!.....or falsely accuse them of wrongdoing and attempt to take away thir homes and everything they have worked for all their lives because some young upstart pimply faced judge says she or he's done wrong when they haven't been out of diapers long enough to know the difference!.....Like I've said there's a lot "WRONG" with this Country's governemnt sweetheart....and we need to begin with correcting the kazillion problems it's natural born citizens are having, first....T/C |
Date: 11/21/2011 2:30:00 PM From Authorid: 63575 Do you realize that people who have worked all their lives will lose almost half of their social security and those that are here illegally get paid social security in full? Also I have no problem with illegal imigrants becoming legal - but they should have a time limit i.e. 12 months to do so or go home - because their home is not here! They do not pay taxes, they could drive vehicles without having to pay for licenses they don't get insurace so that makes higher premiums for the rest of us. They get FREE college. What makes them so special???? I pay taxes, I pay my student loans and my great grand parents on both sides signed in at ellis island. - that's about as friendly as I can make it |

Date: 11/21/2011 2:40:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 30051 I see your point Wildbob. I just don't see how making it a crime is the answer. Especially when we have to pay to keep them incarcerated. |
Date: 11/21/2011 2:51:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 30051 Where do you get your facts that they get social security in full? How do they get free collage? That's not the case here in Arizona. You can't even go to collage, let alone get it for free here. I'm not saying there aren't issues that need to be addressed. We shoudn't have to push 1 for english. This is an english speaking country and should be kept that way. I don't think the police should cruise around looking for hispanics to arrest. You seem to think they have special rights that I'm not aware of. No people from other countries shouldn't have special privliges that we don't have acsess to. I don't think harrassing people and making life difficult is the way to go about things. That's what it's like in Arizona. |

I am against people being here ILLEGALLY. Are you okay having to pay taxes, having a portion of your hard earned money taken away for taxes from each paycheck, and having to pay for your own college education..meanwhile...people here illegally have to pay no taxes, get paid CASH for working, and get a free education. Sadly, since I am white..there are no grants or free money available to me so I have to pay for 100% of my education. |
Date: 11/21/2011 4:46:00 PM From Authorid: 15228 Every country in the world has immigration laws that they enforce, why should we be any different? You should teach your kids to respect the laws of the country they live in. People here illegally might not be bad people, but they did break the law no matter how you want to pretty it up. As usual this part of my response will be ignored, but having said all that, I think we need to make immigration easier. We need more worker permits and if we aren't going to teach our own kids math and science, we need to make it easier for people with those skills to vet onto the country. |

Look at what happened with the 1980 boat lift from Cuba. We agreed to take a good number of cubans, about 125,000 all told. Castro opened up the mental hospitals and jails and a 1990 congressional report estimated 40,000 of the total were"undesirables" with criminal records and mental health problems. Many of this number settled in Miami. The unemployment rate went from 5 percent to over 7 percent and remained that way for years. You REALLY think our borders should be opened to anyone? You don't think there aren't consequences to people who already are struggling in this economy? You don't think we wouldn't become a dumping ground for other countries looking to get rid of their mentally ill and criminal element? |
Date: 11/21/2011 5:44:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 30051 I'm saying that the way they are going about it is wrong. Where do these people get free school? It's not that way in Arizona. Where did this come from? "You should teach your kids to respect the laws of the country they live in" How do you know what I teach my children? But you are rright in a way. I don't teach my children to RESPECT the laws. I teach them to obey the laws. |
Date: 11/21/2011 5:49:00 PM From Authorid: 15228 I guess I brought up children in general, the way you brought up children by saying,. " we are suppose to teach our children tolerance". I presume you meant that in a general way as did I. I was no referring to what you teach your children specifically. |

I hope no one is hated for any debate here on USM ... unless it is hatin' on G&G ... LOL But seriously folks ... I lived in Arizona for 18 years. My parents dragged me down to Phoenix when I was 10 years old, and I seriously hated it. The weather is great .. for 3-4 months out of the year and the rest of the year is 100+ degrees and just an oven to live in. However, the biggest reason I didn't like living in that state was because of the bigotry and hatred. My high school had riots between the cowboys, African/Americans & Mexicans. We Whites just got caught in the middle running for the exits or beat up. One hundred and fifty police were on campus to keep the peace for days at a time .. more than once. It's not a friendly place in many areas of the city. My dad lived there and would hear gunshots almost every week of the year. He didn't live on the poor side of town either. Crime was really bad too, and I wish we had Sherrif Joe Arpio there when I had to live there. I've heard from family still in Arizona that he has made a definite difference. And 3 family members have worked for the sheriff's department or within the prison system .. so they should know. Borders? I think it is absurd to think that we can control them. My dad moved from Phoenix down to Sierra Vista which is just about on the Arizona/Mexico border. He was always having to clean up after illegals and he had to continuously watch for them using his garden hoses or siphoning off electricity. I know here in Seattle we cannot control the Canadian border nor can we stop immigrants from coming in aboard boats or in containers aboard the huge shipping industry here from Asia and other continents. I see the problem, but I too do not have the best answers to illegals and how to process them properly. I agree that we can hardly take care of our own, so how can we say Yes to the amount of people who want to come here. |

Date: 11/22/2011 3:16:00 AM From Authorid: 5940 I too lived in AZ for a number of years..... although unlike certain people who lived there, I won't name any names (GINGER) I actually liked it there. I now live in Arkansas, and I see similar issues here as I did in AZ or Southern California where I was born and raised. There are plenty of manufacturing jobs here in Arkansas like Tyson Foods, George's Chicken and other processing plants that pay low wages but offer some benefits. IMO as long as big business can pay low wages this kind of thing will continue. I've worked in a plant where they looked the other way when it came to there hiring practices until the Immigration Dept shows up and the plant loses half of it's employees in one day. I am all for them becoming a citizen, but our Govt needs to rethink it's immigration laws and in order to do that they will have to step on the toes that finance their campaigns..... and so on. |

Yep Yep, Ginger has been pointed out .. and G&G didn't like Arizona much. However we still hear from more than a dozen households that live in that state. All of those are our family members and just last year George's little brother got his new truck shot at and many holes put in it as he drove away from a Walgreens. No rhyme or reason for many things that happen there, it's just sad. I agree Larry .. our Government needs to rethink it's immigration laws, seriously. Also King Caspian, your right on point too. |

Date: 1/24/2012 11:50:00 PM From Authorid: 26598 its about citizenship! the social security is invested in from your job, until you retire, this covers medical, and life expensies. Aperson who is not a citizen hospitals have to pay for that persons injuries. No money to pay for it, and the cost that poeple pay insurence and medical bills go up. Employers who hire illegal immigrants, pay them less, no medical, and no income taxes on employees, so the employers get rich. Illegal aliens have an income so can afford a drive car how I dont know, they dont pay insurence, property taxes or tag fees. There is a wreck with your car they have no insurence to fix yours that comes out of your pocket not theirs even if they were at fault. |
Date: 1/26/2012 12:00:00 PM From Authorid: 65690 I prefer the American Indian view of ownership. That is, no one can 'own' land. We are only here for a short time comparatively, and we only end up 'owning the lease' to land. We buy and we sell but we cannot take anything with us when we die. Those things we can take with us are those things that one cannot buy. As for immigration, I can see both sides of the argument. I would like some restrictions and I am against open borders. I would like to see people vetted for criminal backgrounds, and ability to earn a living or support themselves. Actually that is pretty much how it is now. In order to get residency or citizenship you have to prove that you will not become a charge upon the State. You also have to have rigid background checks and medical tests for diseases like Aids. Proving all that really makes it hard for people to go the legitimate route. Otherwise it would mean we may get undesirables. We have to strike a balance without compromising our vulnerability. So it is a very difficult situation to resolve. Those people who are here illegally and have earned a living should be allowed to apply for residency at least. Criminals should be immediately deported. Children of illegal immigrants should not be classed as citizens unless the parents are and they have have applied to the INS on behalf of their children. We have more than enough criminals and poor people without in our citizen population without adding more. This is an excellent post and you should not be hated for making it. |
Date: 12/14/2016 9:51:00 AM From Authorid: 61013 In Russia, you are jailed if you cross their borders illegally. In Italy, you can get fined between €5,000-10,000 and be detained for up to six months. Iran forcibly deports illegal immigrants. In Mexico, you get deported and/or jailed for being there illegally. Yet here in America, you come over illegally and you get a license, you get funding for college, you get health insurance, and a guaranteed job. |
