My daughter is 10 also. She is the queen of whining and fake crying. Sorry, I don't have any advice. I'm in the same situation, but probably worse lol! Happy late birthday Elisa!!! |

It's a phase. She isn't sure if she wants to be a big girl, or a little girl. It's a scary, pre-pubescent time for both mother and daughter. "Yer jist gon haf ta be pashunt." as one of our boarders says. |

Yes it is a childish trait for getting ones way with things because no parent can handle this kind of behaviour. It's like they all know this anout us or something. SlickChick and I have a four year old that is so smart, but she does this. We've tried everything from talking to time out to even whipping a little, and still no progress, so we're hopeing she'll grow out of it, if we just keep talking to her about whatever it is she's upset about. I hold her, tell her I understand and repeat what she has sad, so she knows we are on the same page. This holding while I tell her I love her seems to be having some affect. The fusses don't last as long then she forgets them and moves on to something else. Maybe it'll work for you...Corolator |

How rude of those friends to not at least notify you of who was going to the skating rink and who isn't..It must have been so disappointing for Elisa..I don't understand people these days and what was wrong with their parents letting you know *shakes head* HAPPY BIRTHDAY Elisa I'm glad that you could at least join in with the other girl for her party also... |

My neice is also ten. I asked her what she wanted for christmas this year and she said a cell phone. When I mentioned a baby doll or barbie she practically laughed at me.
But for Elisa I'm sorry her friends didn't show up. I agree with Zema. It's ridiculous. As for the whole parenting thing. I am not a parent so I don't think I could help much with that. |
