The Agency Pt 11- The First Assignment

Agent V received his first case file. His assignment was to eliminate a female mutant named arachnia for he ability to inject venom into her host and drink their insides just like a spider. She works the streets and feeds on her clients. He was also handed several old case files to study as well and a list of informants, and detailed list of all registered mutants, vampires, werewolves, and other mystical type creatures. All the time while reading these files Agent V didn't even flinch. Even though he had no idea these things existed in the world it was if he known his whole life.

This first case was an easy in and out, a fellow agent was being used as bate to lure out the mutant where she was to be removed by any means necessary. But they waited all night for several nights in a row in her usual hangout but she never showed. "She must have been tipped off some how," the other agent implied.

The agent agreed and decided to check with some his listed informants. First on the list was Ratboy living in a storm drain near the park. The agent went to the address of the building right above the drain and kicked the grate. "You must be the new guy," a pointed nose said as it poked out from under the street.

"I'm looking for a mutant named Arachnia," the agent said.

"Got anything for me," the creature said holding out a clawed hand.

The file on the informant said he only gives up information for meat and he dropped a fresh cut T-Bone from the butcher into his paw. "Now tell me where I can find her."

"Smarter than you think she is, she found out your little plan. The presence of a couple men in suites kind of gives you guys up. She's now picking up bikers at Spikes Bar I can give you the address."

"I can find it, thanks." The agent pulled out his cellphone from his inside pocket and looked up the address. It was only a couple miles from where he currently was and it was getting dark so he decided to head there. He told the other agent to go home that he would handle it himself.

Upon arriving at Spikes there were several ladies outside the backdoor in the ally. "looking for company?" one asked the agent.

"Yes but from a certain woman," the agent answered.

"He's looking for me," a tall slender lady dressed in a black short dress said "Looks like you found me Agent, I guess I should go quietly."

"That would be best for both of us, no sense me having to kill you in this ally," the agent said pulling out his powerful handgun. The other girls screamed and tried to scramble but Arachnia grabbed one of the put herself behind her with a knife to her throat.

"Here is the deal, I am going to leave and your not going to follow," she said pressing the knife to the scared woman's throat and backing down the ally. She then tossed the woman to the ground and ran and the agent followed.

They came out the other side of the ally by a restaurant and the woman tripped on a crowd of people and the agent raised his gun and she panicked and grabbed a child and put the knife to her. The boy's parents pleaded with the woman, "Take me to your car and get me out of here!" she shouted at the parents.

The agent followed with his gun on the woman as the parents lead her to their car. She shoved the child in back of the car and got in the driver's seat as they handed her the keys, not as the agent had hoped.

The agent got in front of the car a fired several shots into the engine block disabling the car. Arachnia was in the front seat not getting out with the child was on the floor in the backseat right behind her. He child was too scared to get out of the car despite the pleading from his parents.

"Mame, sir, I am going to ask you to back off I have this under control and backup is on it's way," of course that was a lie since the agent didn't have time to call for backup but as long Arachnia didn't display any of her mutant abilities he could play this out as a regular woman being arrested by a regular officer of the law in plain clothing.

The agent slowed to the side of the car to the driver said door get out of the car. The woman tried to start the dead car and the agent broke the window with his gun. He then pulled the woman out through the opening and tossed her to the ground and cuffed her. He phoned in for backup this time and a van arrived in minutes to take the woman to a top secret facility in New Mexico.

Back at New York Headquarters the Boss was reviewing how the agent did with his first case.

"Agent V I am not totally satisfied, You had several opportunities to eliminate her. In the ally, in the car, why didn't you take any shots?"

The agent answered, "I saw a way of handling it without risking the lives of any civilians."

The Boss shook his head, "What did you I tell you, if it means getting the target all other lives are unimportant."

"I couldn't risk the life of an innocent woman and especially that of a child, I did the job, I got it done, target is detained and no one is wise to the fact we just arrested a mutant, so the way I see it everything went fine."

The agent got up to leave and the Boss stopped him, "I wasn't sure about you at first, I thought you became soft with all the sympathy crap the doctor tried to teach you but you still have more guts than any agent on the force. To stand up to me like that takes a lot, here is your next case file, use your best judgement on it I know you can do it."

The agent grabbed the file and started out the door and turned around, "Thanks," the agent said and walked out the doorway.
