Gypsyhawk....What a great post. Dang aren't they always trying to change everything aboit space sience all the time. It's hard trying to keep up with the Scientists, and their individual Theory's. I thought I had a good understanding about Time/Space/Distance/Measurement, but after reading what you have written here in your post I believe I'll be pondering this new thought into my previous understanding for a long time. Thanks for the science upgrade, ha ha!...Corolator |

Corolator, you're welcome. Glad this influenced your thinking for however much. Good luck with keeping up. |

DP, hi. Can you elaborate a bit more? Are you saying that the present is all that exists and the past and future don't exist at all anyway, so no measurement to either is ever pragmatic for any reason? Or something else? |

I hope people don't read into this any assumptions of time travel or anything of the kind. It's just a mind thing, a way to measure something in terms not done before. |

Hmmm. Maybe this is too deep for people. |

Take this for example: "Say you are standing on that corner of Elm and Spruce again. Someone is a hundred miles away right then at that exact time. Are they equally distant from you as someone who was standing exactly where you are say a hundred years ago?" Why would one mile in space be equivalent to one year in time? |

DP, yes, that's the problem I alluded to when I wrote "a new kind of measuring would have to be found out, one that corresponds equally with present distance and past time." I was using that measurement purely in hypothetical terms, and if there is anything to this thinking, the one thing that would need to be invented is a measuring guide that correlates present distant with time going back. That would be something entirely new to wrap one's head around. |

On another related idea, can anyone explain the physical results that can be seen/experienced concerning the whole concept of space/time being one and the same? |

BTW, DP, thanks for coming back. I didn't want this post to flop so quickly. I kind of like this idea. |

Ah well, I guess it has flopped now. Too bad; I still like this idea. |

Scientists only refer to time and space being the "same" when you aren't using a Euclidean plane. When you reference two objects in the manner of your example, we would not correlate time and space as one. Now, when people hear this they often ask how can you apply concepts subjectively? And that's when I try to explain super positioning with schroeder's cat, as an example, but people just walk away thinking about zombie cats. |
