Date: 8/12/2011 8:26:00 PM From Authorid: 31765 It took about a month for me to feel normal again. Be careful lifting too. I lifted something too heavy too soon and regretted it. Painkillers and muscle relaxers were a wonderful thing |
Date: 8/12/2011 8:31:00 PM From Authorid: 5252 Awww sorry to hear! I had mine out three weeks after I had my daughter and I think I was fine within a week or so. Diabetes may slow the healing, but I say if the pain lasts another week go to the dr. Again. |

Quite possibly the diabetes will be effecting your recovering time. Not too sure how it'd be contributing to pain however. Gall Bladder surgery - depending on the invasiveness of the procedure of course - does take a bit to recover from regardless of having diabetes or not...so 2 weeks and still feeling pain isn't overly unusual. |
Date: 8/12/2011 9:27:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15157 Hi lp...for some reason they are giving me muscle relaxers. I want discribe the pain as a pinching or a cramp that never goes away. |
Date: 8/12/2011 9:32:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15157 Hc...i have a dr appt in Oct ...i know what you are gonna say next...why so far away...i am going through a heath system that goes through a carelink in texas. Pretty complicated dr. care. |
Date: 8/12/2011 9:36:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15157 Hi AgentS!...long time no see. My surgery was laperscopic...so I have holes in my tummy. And maybe its taking its time to cure because of all the whale blubber they had to dig thru. Someone just told me it took their dad a whole month to feel normal again. |

Hey Keeks... 1) you're waaaay too hard on yourself with the 'whale blubber' quip...real women have curves...twigs are for trees 2) Regardless of the depth of curves it really shouldn't impact too much painwise...as there are few receptors in that layer. Laparoscopic surgery shouldn't also create too much damage...thats the whole point of it, to be as least invasive as possible. Hate to say it - and could well be wrong - but chances are the surgeon may not have been overly delicate while doing the surgery. Post surgery pain can often be due to tissue trauma, bruising etc...particularly when the surgery is in the lower abdominal region...surgeons tend not to be overly gentle in those regions. ...you'll heal up in time...but definitely is the pain levels aren't decreasing or if you notice any increased reddening or yellowing discoloration around the op-site then best to head back to the Dr to get it checked out. |

Thanks Agent S. Here I am up again because of the pain. I think you'er right about them not being too delicate with me. They had been doing surgeries all day and I belive I was the last surgery. May they rushed through it. I dont rightly know. I should give myself more time I guess. I cry sometimes when its really bad. Thanks again for your comments and for everyone that has responded too! |
Date: 8/13/2011 7:15:00 AM From Authorid: 45684 Hey Kiki! It took a couple of weeks for the pain to go away for me. And about a month before I really felt any better. Just give it some time. It sucks, I know. I hurt so badly, I just wanted to get away from myself. |
Date: 8/13/2011 7:23:00 AM From Authorid: 64817 Oh Momma Kat, I am so sorry that you are still in pain. My father was still hurting pretty bad after two weeks after his gall bladder surgery and that is without having diabetes. A heating pad seemed to help him get through the pain with muscle relaxers as well. |

Date: 8/13/2011 8:57:00 AM From Authorid: 5252 KiKi I understand on the appts, they do that here also. I don't know if they have started doing the procedures different from when I've had mine done. I really don't remember feeling bad that long afterwards, but I've known four people this past year to have it done, and they were still in pain two or three months later. If the pain gets severe id suggest trying to move the appt up or go to the e.r., with beiing diabetic you don't want to take any chances! |

Date: 8/13/2011 12:59:00 PM From Authorid: 48250 that's really bad your original doctor went across country for a new/better paying job...it takes a while for you to heal---- I had gallbladder surgery in 92' & it seems like it will take forever to start healing & with diabetes no doubt it is a slower process, but you'll be better in no time darlin!...xx's Take/Care! |

...some people have a tendency to heal more slowly because they thrive on the attention they get from being sick. You may just be experiencing complications from your surgery. |
Date: 8/13/2011 3:15:00 PM From Authorid: 2734 My step-father said that this procedure, though taken lightly by many people, was very, very painful for him and it took him quite a while (no diabetes) to feel normal again. I think you are doing the right thing by monitoring yourself but I wouldn't be too alarmed just yet. Give yourself some time darlin'. |
Date: 8/15/2011 6:13:00 AM From Authorid: 42945 You have had an organ removed and whether it is by keyhole surgery or the other larger incision, it still take time to heal. Main thing is to not overdo things and take it easy. Everyone is different in regards to healing and if you are still not feeling well within another week or two I'd be heading back to the surgeon..besides it will give you peace of mind. I had mine removed the other way and I was sick for some time, my daughter had it keyhole surgery and was really sick for two weeks before she started to feel better...hope you get to feeling better real soon hun...take it easy..*hugs* |
