No, they came to a decision because many people would have been without their SS and military checks and medicare was being threatened. The whole country was on the verge of ruining its credit with the rest of the world and we needed to make a plan to show the United States was worth investing in- or we would have had an economic collapse. The answer to raise the debt ceiling to 2013 was not a good solution but it bought us more time... what we really need to do is bring some jobs back to America instead of outsourcing them and try to get this inflation under control, no one can afford anything anymore. We have been in debt since the beginning- they knew there was no gold backing up our banks for a long time... now other countries are asking questions. Paid vacations are a drop in the bucket to many of the corporate monopolies that are ruining this country- and international banks.  |

Listening to the news makes me so angry at our government. I want to kick everyone in the teeth that are part of congress and our government. Why can't our government realize how awesome Clinton was when he controlled welfare?? Urine tests for welfare and the ones on disability. I know so many people who are on disability who MILK it and openly admit it.
CP, I don't know why you are sick of hearing about it, or let alone anyone. Don't you understand that what is going on with our countries financial crisis affects you too?? So personally, I'm tired of talking to people who just don't care and are tired of hearing about it. Get used to listening to it on USM, Facebook, TV, this is a huge deal that our country is going through. Citizens need to start caring. We are already worse off than we were in the great depression in the 1930's and that was tragic. If our government can't pay its bills you think it's going to be a walk in the park still?? Heck no. Might as well consider us the next Africa because I know people will loose it and cause riots.  |

Actually the bill was signed b/c Obama gave in and let the republicans have what they wanted AND wanted to avoid defaulting on our debt (which would have happened yesterday or today if he hadn't given in).
But, yes, the vacation thing is over-cookin my grits. Its dumb. Waste of money. I get THREE paid personal days throughout the school year. Most people never even earn more than 2 or 3 weeks total for the entire year. That job shouldn't be any different. What happened to people going in to that profession to actually help the country? Now they go in to it b/c they can give themselves endless raises and vacation. Its just sick.  |
