Date: 7/31/2011 1:36:00 PM From Authorid: 31765 My husband makes jewelry, and has made me some awesome pieces. He's 6'5" and a good 250 pounds, big big man. You probably would never expect such delicate, beautiful work coming from someone like him. I see no problem at all with men expressing themselves creatively. |
Date: 7/31/2011 1:38:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 34663 I have been wanting to do needle work, as soon as I get something made I will share it on here with you guys |
Date: 7/31/2011 2:04:00 PM From Authorid: 21903 There'll always be some dumb red-neck idiot who wants to make fun of a man for his hobby if its not "manly" enough in his or her eyes, but in my opinion I believe its fine. (though I know there are plenty of people who agree w/me, there are plenty who don't I'm sure). |
Date: 7/31/2011 2:32:00 PM From Authorid: 21435 I reserve the right to do any and all of those "woman things," if I so desire. Write about PD! |
Date: 7/31/2011 2:33:00 PM From Authorid: 21435 Ugh! Too bad I can't spell. (Write about "it," PD) |
Date: 7/31/2011 3:01:00 PM From Authorid: 11097 It's a society label, there is no such thing as "men" and "women" activities in the sense you are asking; my brother is 17 and dances with NYC Ballet, and he is really good. I see nothing wrong with people doing things they enjoy. |
Date: 7/31/2011 3:20:00 PM From Authorid: 49311 men who make fun of men that do this things it because they can no do them there is nothing wrong with men doing anything like sewing or needle work, knitting, crocheting it is ok for men to do it |
Date: 7/31/2011 3:51:00 PM From Authorid: 23075 Who cares as long as they enjoy it. |
Date: 7/31/2011 3:59:00 PM From Authorid: 23963 I have always felt that if you really want to do something, than do it. Who cares what anyone else thinks. |

Men should be able to do anything they want even woman things....Except for one...Giving Birth...I don`t think you guys could handle it. I am exempting the "Men" who have given birth...they were first born a Woman and have the same plumbing as before. |

Date: 7/31/2011 5:20:00 PM From Authorid: 64765 Absolutely, why not. My girlfriend is into crafts and knitting. She recently got me into the crafting. She's trying to teach me how to knit lol. I don't see nothing wrong with guys doing woman things. Good post PD |
Date: 7/31/2011 6:20:00 PM From Authorid: 62821 The thing i can't stand is cleaning, it really winds me up. But i do 'woman' things such as keep a journal, which some men see as a woman thing. I don't even know any women who keep a journal... |

i don't see the problem with a man doing anything he wants. some guys are just wound up so thight that they think they constantly have to prove their mochoiness. ......yes that is a word!! i've seen my dad buy camo fabric. of course he took it home to mom and told her what he wanted her to make cause NOBODY wants him touching a sewing machine! a tractor, bulldozer, skid loader, boat, truck.........anything but a sewing machine. or a computer! |

Well I work as a Nurse, I have always belived in Equal work rights. Yet here I am in an already Female Dominated job. And in my industry People can look down on Male Nurses. When they are equally Capible off doing what us Girls have always been able to do. Besides we need as many Nurses as possible so beggers can't be chosers anyways xD There are a lot off Jobs that are female dominated, like air flight stewardess, Nurse, Teacher, Maid, Secretery, etc. These jobs are also almost always assosicated with Kinky fantisies eg. Naughty Nurse, bad teacher, etc. All those jobs were female dominated, soo I see a conection somehow. Anyways in the nursing world men are seen as sissy or doing a womans job. There are soo many good male nurses I world with and I have been patient for. Women may be able to multitask but Nursing is not for the faint hearted sooo a man with a strong stomach is pretty awesome. As for the other industries mentioned, Like teacher etc. The most favorite teachers are normal men, but we lack men teachers. I have so far never seen a male secretery, Which makes me wonder, and as for stewards and Maids those are rare to it seems xD I think people go against guys doing "Girl things" Because despite the femminist movment, men are still exspected to be manly and tough, Or maybe because women are almost ashamed off being girls these days (some anyways) Being a girl is degrading, Like madonna said herself in her song, do you know what is feels like for a girl in this world. As for Ballet that type off dance requires a lot off strengh and passion, it's not sissy acctually they just make it gracefull. Anyways I know what you mean about double standards xD |
Date: 7/31/2011 7:27:00 PM From Authorid: 64365 Knitting was a man's thing before it was a woman's thing. The first sewing machine was built by a man. Men have been haberdashers and garment makers since time began. Men made their own fishing nets, and created woven tapestries, and garments. These were lucrative professions of employment for men and women in ancient times. It never was just a woman's thing. Ballet was as much of a dance for men as it was for women, so was figure skating. The majority of our Old Masters were men, and the old composers of classical music were men. Men and women sang opera. The majority of the old celebrated poets were men. I'm not saying there weren't any women doing these things; there most certainly were. |

I have no problem with it. There are many men fashion designers, some of the best cooks are men. Ballet needs male dancers, and so does figure skating, if only for nothing but the lifts. As a matter of fact, my bestie is the mechanic for her family, while her bf does all the sewing. |
Date: 7/31/2011 8:11:00 PM From Authorid: 64365 according to Wikipedia "...Originally a male-only occupation, the first knitting trade guild was started in Paris in 1527" |

I am always cooking and cleaning at home. I love to cook, i like a clean kitchen to be spotless. I change diapers, read stories to my son, kiss his boo-boos, make sure his outfits match, and make sure he has the correct color crocs on that will flow with his shirt. When someone tells me I'm acting like a girl, I just aremind them that I've killed people....usually does the trick. |
Date: 7/31/2011 8:54:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 34663 Cosmic freak that would ruin a lot of male fantasies if more men did those things, lol and Nani that is so true and back then no one cared what they did, but then again men also wore dresses too if you go far enough back in history, robes really but they were dress like, some cultures still do, Scotts, Pope, Indians from India, and so forth, so where are we to draw a line or does this line even exist? |
Date: 7/31/2011 9:24:00 PM From Authorid: 63962 A very subjective question. It all depends on what you mean by "woman things". I believe the definition of masculinity has changed over the years, and what used to not be acceptable for a guy to do is now widely accepted, for the most part. At the same time, from what I've read, people back in the 1800s and early 1900s and then were more open with some things along those lines then we are now. Sounds weird, but, that's what I've gathered. |
Date: 7/31/2011 9:30:00 PM From Authorid: 64365 Pills, I don't think a line exists...I think people have given up that kind of decision making to those who dictate social and religious norms. Men were the first at a lot of things that are now thought to be women's areas. My uncle was a tailor and haberdasher, and his services were in such high demand that he became a millionaire. He made sure my Aunt was dressed in the finest, and that what she wore suited her because he was so adept at high fashion. I admire men who can sew and knit and crochet, etc. |
Date: 7/31/2011 9:58:00 PM From Authorid: 62679 Knitting originated as a man's activity. Women weren't allowed to do it for quite a few decades ^__^ It caught on during wartimes for women to knit their bit for soldiers. |
Date: 7/31/2011 11:35:00 PM From Authorid: 12709 I'm not really liking the "man" and "woman" labels put on these things. Anybody can do anything. I don't see how being a doctor is a "man" thing that women can do, or sewing is a "woman" thing that men can do. That sounds insulting on both ends. I assumed for the most part, society here was way past all that, but I'm sure there are a few ignorant stragglers out there... |
Date: 8/1/2011 6:28:00 AM From Authorid: 3680 I guess it's okay for guys to do woman things.....ie make sandwiches....lol j/k |

I object to anybody doing anything too loud! But seriously, who is going to stop you from doing anything? You're a free person, at least as of right now. You're ALLOWED to do whatever you want as long as it doesn't break any laws. God Bless. |
Date: 8/7/2011 6:47:00 AM From Authorid: 62146 Doughboy that is my point, xD Because those jobs are female domminated men dare to dream. And any male that enters those jobs is considered Gay most off the time. Which Ruins it more for straight men I think. |
