I miss watching Mike Rowe`s "Dirty Jobs".  And I was thinking ..well I have never had a real dirty job.  Only in Plasma where I would be sent to occasionally clean a dirty psl Machine that the bowl of blood and plasma would accidently leak out and explode into the inside of the Machine.  I was deemed the best Plasma cleaner in the place.

They liked me because I cleaned it so fast and did it so well.

I didn`t like the plasma smell because it resembles rotten eggs after it leaves the body and it drys like egg yolks too.

Bleach is the only way to go in cleaning this mess because of its biohazard leavings and smells.

Anyway I was thinking maybe this could have been a part of a Good Job that was dirty. And this would make for a good question for others.

Have you ever "Had An Ugly Job?"

p.s.  I can call uranalysis dirty too because of the smell. We used to call it...UroFest!lol

Date: 7/10/2011 10:33:00 AM  From Authorid: 34663    a dirty job you mean, yes I had one at petsmart. I cleaned the small animal cages twice a week. That was my only job there, I did it for a year till I got tired of it and realized I wasn't going any where with the job. Monday would be the mammals, hamsters, rats, gerbils, guieapigs, and so on. The smell was terrible and the cages were a biohazard. I had to use lemonquat to clean it with. They had to be spotless as well. I would take out the old litter and replace it with new. Tuesday was the birds not as nasty except the parakeets, the poop everywhere. I had a few other jobs every no and then and worked other days. Reptiles were easy to clean and not nasty, but I only cleaned them a couple times. Fish tanks were easy to wipe down too. Mainly those little rodents were the worst and dirtest

Date: 7/10/2011 11:08:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15157    Mike Rowe is doing alot more Voice Overtures and commercials and stuff. I keep looking for his Show Dirty Jobs but I cannot even find re-runs!
Date: 7/10/2011 1:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 31765    My worst job ever was working in a store. You see, in Oregon there's a bottle/can deposit. So, people save them up and bring them in, in large quantities. Guess what? Someone has to sort them and count them. Now, imagine doing that in a tin building...in August. No air conditioning in southern Oregon. Now imagine opening a large plastic bag of old nasty beer cans. The smell hits you. And as you're sorting them, wearing only thin latex gloves. And you start imagining the diseases. Hepatitis, etc. The various liquids go all over you and your clothes.

NOW imagine hearing over the loud speakers, your name being called up front to bag someone's groceries. You're hot, sweaty and filthy from sorting cans and bottles. And now you're handling someone's food.

It was a disgusting job and although I did do my best, I only lasted a month before I quit. It was the worst job I ever had and believe me, I've had a lot of jobs. It's probably the only one I had that I said NEVER again.

I was also on my Aunt's farm, one time, when she insited I take part in the plucking of the many chickens they were killing that day to put in the freezer. YUCK!

Date: 7/10/2011 4:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 27414    Oh, heck yes. Farming, (go clean a barn in winter, or bale hay and get stuck in the hayloft in 90+degree weather and 95% humidity with all that chaff). Slopping hogs, butchering. Common but dirty none the less.
Date: 7/10/2011 6:40:00 PM  From Authorid: 15228    Detasseling corn in high school. 90 degree heat, corn poisoning, bugs, heavy dew in the morning so you'd be good and muddy by mid day.
Date: 7/11/2011 4:19:00 AM  From Authorid: 27414    DEFINITELY what Kelly said. I did that for 3 years while I was in high school. YUCK!!! Hated it!
Date: 7/11/2011 6:27:00 AM  From Authorid: 64819    Dirtiest job I ever had was toppin and suckerin tobacco. Now the bf, he has a dirty job, he works with pigs. Eww...
Date: 7/12/2011 10:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 61966    I've always had a dirty job!! My first..working with monkeys!! I absolutely loved it but boy did I stink!! My job was to clean all the food bowls and water bottles (monkeys like to pee in their bowls) then I spent hours making food for the hundreds of monkeys, and sometimes I actually had to get inside of cages to clean them out. My drivers ED teacher picked me up after work, the next time he asked if I could meet him on a day off...most likely because I smelled so terrible. My current dirty job..I'm a nurse, enough said!
