Amanda Knox -- From my Personal Blog June 28, 2011

As we already know, Amanda Knox is the Seattle native accused of the murder of her British flatmate, Meredith Kercher. Did she do it? Probably not, but there are only four people on Earth who know for sure, and at least one psychopathic prosecutor who claims to know. As this case has progressed we’ve not only seen the prosecution’s theory change several times, we have also seen Mignini inadvertently portray Knox as a superhuman who can defy language barriers. At this point they do not even have a murder weapon, and we have an intriguing statement from the arresting officer given when he was queried on his belief that Amanda Knox was the killer:

 ‘I’ll tell you why…….she was eating pizza!” — Officer Giobbi

That said, this statement indicates that everyone in Italy more than likely committed this crime. This theory however is quite valid, so we’ll investigate it a bit. The following is a list of the different types of pizza that you will find in Italy, courtesy of Wikipedia:

  • Pizza romana (in Naples): tomato, mozzarella, anchovies, oregano, oil;
  • Pizza viennese: tomato, mozzarella, German sausage, oregano, oil;
  • Pizza capricciosa (“capricious pizza”): mozzarella, tomato, mushrooms, artichokes, cooked hamolives, oil (in Romeprosciutto raw ham is used and half a hard-boiled egg is added);
  • Pizza quattro stagioni (“four seasons pizza”): same ingredients for the capricciosa, but ingredients not mixed;
  • Pizza quattro formaggi (“four cheese pizza”): tomatoes, mozzarella, stracchinofontinagorgonzola (sometimes ricotta can be swapped for one of the last three);
  • Sicilian-style pizza has its toppings baked directly into the crust. (“Sicilian” pizza in the United States is typically a different variety of product, made with a thick crust characterized by a rectangular shape and topped with tomato sauce, cheese and optional toppings. Pizza Hut‘s “Sicilian Pizza”, introduced in 1994, is not an authentic example of the style as only garlic, basil, and oregano are mixed into the crust);
  • White pizza (pizza bianca) omits the tomato sauce, often substituting pesto or dairy products such as sour cream. Most commonly, especially on the East coast of the United States, the toppings consist only of mozzarella and ricotta cheese drizzled with olive oil and spices like fresh basil and garlic. In Rome, the term pizza bianca refers to a type of bread topped with olive oil, salt and, occasionally, rosemary sprigs. It is also a Roman style to bottom the white pizza with figs, the result being known as pizza e fichi (pizza with figs);
  • Ripieno or calzone is a turnover-style pizza filled with several ingredients, such as ricotta, salami and mozzarella, and folded over to form a half circle before being baked. In Italiancalzone literally means “large sock”, while the word ripieno actually means just “filling” and does not by itself imply a form of pizza.
We’re unsure as to which type of pizza Amanda Knox might have been eating at the time, but if we had to guess, we’d say that Sicillian was more than likely the culprit. It should be taken into account that pizza is a type of flat disc food, the disc being made from bread and the toppings being spread across. Pizza sauce is always an option, though there are many today who are finding that pizza without the tomato sauce is actually a better option.

The fact of the matter is that the Perugia police could have come up with better reasons for everything. They could have even come up with a motive. In addition to that they could have come up with a murder weapon that did not constitute a knife they pulled from a random drawer because it looked shiny.

Yesterday, Rudy Guede was called to testify against Amanda Knox, and he gave what appeared to be a nicely rehearsed speech, even though he couldn’t really read his own handwriting. Judge Hellman, in short, asked Rudy Guede if he could understand the big words in the statement he'd issued in 2010, and his answer was apparently no. At this point it is widely believed that Rudy's statement was in fact written by a third party. The court may very well believe him simply because he was the only one not eating pizza. Then again, it’s Italy so there is a strong chance that he was eating pizza at some point wasn’t there?

Now there are many who are probably going to chastise my decision to pull a large portion of this article from Wikipedia, and rightfully so. After all, the Perugian prosecution and forensics team probably did quite a bit of their own research using Wikipedia, and look how that ended up!

The point here is that Amanda Knox was a student studying in a first world country. She was not a terrorist, and she was not hiking on the Iranian border for no apparent reason. The United States has failed in it’s obligation to protect her as a citizen, and to be honest, the world needs to take a closer look at the European Union in general.

Date: 6/28/2011 9:58:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 2335    When she was denied a lawyer, a phone call, and the interrogation video 'lost', either the EU or the US should have started asking serious questions as these are serious infractions against the Italian legal system. Guilty or not, this kind of thing can't fly.

Date: 6/28/2011 2:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 19613    The EU would have no power to intervene in such a situation. If Knox believes she did not receive a fair trial, she may be entitled to take a case before the European Court of Human Rights, however she must first exhaust all domestic remedies.

Date: 6/29/2011 1:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 64747    Have to agree with Dark Phoenix, what has the EU got do to with it?

She can, after all this is finished go through the EU court of Human Rights.

I do agree however, that this is one weird case, I've never heard the likes of it before.
