His Sword takes the last plunge into the cold heart of the last standing enemy. His followers scream for victory. They holler and hoot as their horses beat their hooves into the cold hard ground. They turn back, heading home to tell their whole town how victorious they were, losing only about a dozen men. Knowing that once they return home, they deserve a good rest and their wives and children at their sides, never to leave them alone again. Getting closer, they see smoke rising from beyond the hill. They race up this giant hill, only to look down and see their own town, torn and ablaze. The evil, toothy grins and white glowing eyes are easily seen through the flames. Eyes are wide, men are shouting, the leader races down, directs his men to destroy the enemies, once again. As they get back to the flat ground, entering into their destroyed, once peaceful, town, the enemies are not to be seen. No tracks from horses hooves, no footprints, just cries from children. But, there are no children to be seen. No bones, no bodies,... no blood. The leader sees a shadow from inside of a burning house. He quietly walks over, only hearing his slow paced breathing and fast paced heart beat. Everything else echos around him. He slowly, cautiously peers inside and sees no one. All of a sudden, he notices, it's completely silenced.. No whinnying from horses, no shouting men. He turns back around to see no one standing on ground with him or anywhere in sight. Where could his men have of disappeared off to? Did they leave while he was in the doorway? Did they just happen to disintegrate while his eyes were else where? No ashes, no blood, NO TRACKS. Confused, he looks around, spinning, at one point, calling for his horse. NOTHING. This is an enemy that, seriously, cannot be beaten. They didn't look normal to start with.. those piercing white pupiled eyes, wide grins full of razor sharp teeth, pale pink skin with a hint of grey.., like death. Demons, perhaps? No, something completely different,.. something ALIEN. He now just looks up into the dark canopy sky. Sees the abnormal. The stars look brighter, closer? YES, closer, so close, he sees the faint rings of Saturn. He tries not to show the slightest bit of fear, but now with the sweat pouring down his face, he knows something is happening. Too busy looking up into the sky to notice pale hands coming up out of the ground, stretching up high, grabbing around his ankles, his knees, his WRISTS, a few even emerged from the dirt and grabbed a hold of his shoulders, his neck. Paralyzed, LITERALLY, and looking like he's just allowing this now, looks DEAD into the eyes of one of these creatures that came around to face him. Much different from anything human he'd ever seen. He closes his eyes now, allowing them to continue their dirty job and pull him INTO the earth. The one creature stands tall next to him, joining him into this journey down into the ground. The next morning, the whole land covered in vegetation. Tall luscious trees with intertwining branches with blooming flowers... never to be known that they were once terrified villagers and warriors...
