When One Door Closes, Another Opens To Opportunity *Hangman*

Unfortunately it is very sad when we lose a job, position, relationship, or friendship etc. The hardest part is facing the unknown and moving forward, since we often feel stuck after such as loss has happened in our lives.

The key is to be thankful for lost opportunities in your life! I speak from experience!

Everything in life serves its purpose and everything has a reason for the way that it happens. Whether it’s that you lost a job, relationship, or friendship there is a reason for that and often, because Life wants you to move on and start something new and often much better.

The Universe opens many doors when one closes, and always in our best interests.

A couple years ago I had worked for a popular restaurant. For a good year and a half I was happy doing my job and was promoted high in rank very early in my job. I assisted in most of all the hiring, and had to train employees to be the best they could be. This was fun for awhile, and I enjoyed the work that I did. However, overtime I was no longer happy with what I was doing. I had gotten into yoga, and had a strong desire after a few short months of practicing to become a teacher.

Acting on my intuitions guidance I became a yoga teacher and immediately quit my job while in the middle of teacher training. I quit with nothing else to fall back on. I did not care. I just knew that if I was tired of something I was just going to move forward and I don’t believe in looking back. People told me that I was making a poor decision by quitting without having another job lined up. I did not listen to them, since I always believe in trusting my own inner guidance, rather than relying on someone else’s. At the end of my training I was offered an internship at the Yoga studio, which would eventually mean I would be hired. This was a rare opportunity and I was one of the ones that was chosen. Six months later into my internship, I was laid off due to not enough space on the schedule. Disappointed, but not surprised, I walked away with a smile knowing that there was a better opportunity on its way and all I had to do was keep trusting that the hunches I was acting on were right and that I was following the path the Universe wanted me to go in. Just one week later I got offered two other teaching positions at other gyms which were high paying and the people and staff at these places are amazing to work with! Best Job I ever had, no stress and excellent flexibility!

I look back now knowing that the decisions I made were for my highest good and I would hate to think of what would have happened if I would not have left my previous jobs, and went onto better things in life. I found that if I kept a positive attitude and took the loss as a growth period, that things would fall in place on their own, and they did almost immediately!

For those that are struggling in their life, you have options all around you. Look at what is going on around you. Are you happy with what you are doing? Are you happy with a relationship that you are in? If you are not, begin to examine your life and see what changes need to take place. Often times the answer will appear to you automatically on what you need to do. All you have to do is act on that impulse, Trust It, and let life take you too many opportunities.

When the opportunities show up, seize them. You never know what great adventures await you! Life is too short to be stuck in something you do not enjoy. It is a waste of time. Move forward and never look back!

And always remember this quote “Sometimes we stare too hard at a door that is closing, that we see too late the one that is open.” (Quote from: Alexander Graham Bell”).

I hope that some of you who feel stuck in your lives will feel inspired by my life experiences here, so you can make choices on what is best for yourselves.

So I know that there are others out there that have had similiar experiences by acting on their hunches and guidance. I would like to hear your experiences with this… have you ever left something behind and it led to exciting new opportunities??

I left one job for another about 8 months ago and it landed me in being employed for 6 months which was heartbreaking i felt defeated but thankfully a new job... although not in my chosen studied profession... was offered to me and I am very happy with how things are working out until i find a new teaching job

Date: 6/21/2011 4:33:00 AM  From Authorid: 42945    A great post Robert, but in saying that my young friend, you had people helping and advising you, not everyone is afforded those hands of friendship or a strong shoulder to lean upon like you had in those uncertain times..Some have to struggle to come to grips within their own lives as to what to do for the best and hopes for it to work out for them...

I hope that your post can help others to gain confidence so that they can move forward in their lives like you managed to achieve..

Date: 6/21/2011 11:17:00 AM  From Authorid: 64815    I enjoyed reading about how you perceive the opportunities that have come your way.

I had an experience that might not be so dissimilar from yours. I applied for a job at an organization that helps people who are down on their luck. I got the position and then noticed that all the paid employees were always so worried about what raise they might get, or if the bosses saw what they did around the company and would commend them on their hard work. When the time came for reviews to be done, the mood got really tense. Employees would snap at each other and I almost quit right there and then. I however waited to find out what happened and who got raises or promotions.

Even after that I couldn't stand the emotional struggle that the paid employees were putting themselves through. The bosses didn't do it, they seemed to care about everyone who worked there the same. So I quit. After a month, I realized that I missed helping people so much that I went back to volunteer.

Can I just say, that move on my part made all the difference. Now with the other volunteers we did anything we could for the love of doing it. No one cared about a 2 cent per hour raise, or a different job title . . . we just couldn't do enough to help out. I will work at my other job for money, but when I want to help out, and fill my soul with something good . . . I will always volunteer. I achieved the peace and calm my soul was searching for. Date: 6/21/2011 4:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 21839    this post is right on time.. my job function at work changed & I was informed today.. I am not happy but I know that there are better things to come.. God don't close a door with opening another.. thank you for this post.. GOd works in mysterious way & I think he is talking to me... thanks for sharing your story.. you have to trust your instincts.. I know my insticts come from God & have learned to listen.. thank you my friend..
Date: 6/21/2011 5:19:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 23963    CP, the key is to trust your insticts beyond a shadow of a doubt and know that what you are currently doing is leading to bigger and better things. All becomes well when you trust and keep moving forward. I hope that my post inspired you in some way.

Zema and I could not have made the decisions without your guidance as well. When I always told you of my plans you always told me to do what is right for me and not to ever look back. I would not be where I am now without having you as a friend in my life!

Be-Jeweled, Welcome to USM! I enjoyed your story and I agree with you that if you truely enjoy something without the raise or promotion then its best to keep doing what your doing. However, if it were a paying job and you were doing everything you can and they raised everyone else in promotion and salary, then its time to start worrying. I have always believed that good hard work should be praised and rewarded even when the position is voluntary, even when you are not doing it for the money or the promotion. Sometimes people need to know that what they are doing is acknowledged, so they can keep moving forward with a smile knowing what they are doing is for the greatest good of all. Now to anyone out there who gets the impression to leave your job or volunteer position, because someone else got a promotion or award before you...the best thing to do first is to talk with your boss. They may not have understood the fact that you wanted that position or were in fact interested. Sometimes they may be happy that you came to them with your honesty, and sometimes you may be given that raise or promotion or reward you in another way. If at that point you feel that your boss is making excuses or rather not acknowledge what your doing, then it might be the best thing to get up and walk away knowing that another place is out there that will appreciate your hard work and efforts. Good leaders or bosses reward those who do the work, even when its out of pure kindness or voluntary. That is where the phrase comes in "Give and you shall receive". I hope that your motivations will always be pure though LOL.

SugarBear your welcome and I look forward to hearing what decisions you make regarding your job.

Date: 6/21/2011 5:51:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 23963    I want to also add the fact that those who have left your jobs or voluntary positions, don't ever regret the decisions that you made. Life is too short to have any regrets. You made your decisions out of intuition, instinct, and the little voice inside you telling you it was time to move forward. If you did your best to try to work with your boss or even if you tried real hard in a loving relationship, and you felt that your reasons went unnoticed, don't ever feel like you failed. Look forward, smile, and keep going in another direction. Trust me in the fact that there are many places out there that will acknowledge what you do and you will be very happy working for people like that knowing that your appreciated. For those that feel stuck in their work life or any type of relationship that they are in, thats what your going to get more of, if you don't do anything about it. Too many people feel that things will get better so they wait longer periods of time, until one day they realize that they are still unhappy because things did not change.

Best advice is...when you feel that its time to go, don't complain. First try to resolve it with the person you are having issues with. If that doesn't work, walk away and go onto something better. Don't ever look back, nor ever go back. In time when you look back months or years later, you will realize how things fell into place after you left something behind.

I also have to say that I was never like this many years ago. I used to take other peoples advice over my own. Big Mistake! I was too afraid to speak my opinions, out of fear of a job loss or upsetting someone. However, through life experiences I became a person that will see and speak the truth. Speak your truth with honesty and pure motivation, and do what is right for you...and you will be amazed at the things that are happening in your life. Have faith and trust in yourself, the Universe, and know that when one door is closing, one is beginning to open to adventurous and mystical lands LOL.

Date: 7/13/2011 12:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 30742    What a great story. Intuition is such a gift, and if you pay attention to it you can reach your highest mission. Thank you for being an inspiration and reminding us all to follow our dreams and heart !
Date: 5/27/2017 9:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 67528    That was amazing and so uplifting. Every time I decided to move to another area or state I knew it was the right thing to do, even when I didn't have all the money in place. One time in particular I remember calling a place for rent and telling the woman on the phone that I needed a place like yesterday. I was so surprised when she said sure you can move in tomorrow. I was able to move into this apartment the next morning. The place was beautiful. It was my first apartment in a new state. I had no car and no money but help was all around me. God is awesome and I am so thankful, even to this very day. It showed me that no matter what decision I made bad or good. That God would protect me and help me through it all.
Date: 11/30/2017 3:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 26203    Hangman, I truly don't know what to write as I am a little stunned on how I am feeling, so please forgive me if I don't make sense, as I feel like I want to cry, but my tears are not of sadness but of hope, you see Hangman your life story is one of the most inspirational posts, I have ever truly read, YOU truly are an amazing human being, and I feel so blessed to have come back to USM and to still see you here, and to read your stories although they are years old, they still are changing people's lives, because I can honestly say that reading this has started something inside of me..
