Date: 11/26/2010 7:34:00 AM From Authorid: 62798 I can suggest phoning or emailing the DHHS local to you. See if they could send you snail mail forms or have a rep do a hpone consultation instead. Also you should be able to get WIC for the baby if you have not already. |

Thank you for reminding me about WIC! I definitely need to do that. That would help alot! The thing with DHHS is I've been calling them since mid August to tell them that we have much less income, and they haven't returned my calls or anything. It's getting frustrating. I know I should just be grateful that I can get any assistance, but... its hard to feed the three of us with $100 a month, ya know? It's impossible, actually lol, considering I usually take 50 dollars out of rent just to get us enough food to cover dinners. Thank you SO much for the WIC reminder tho! |
Date: 11/26/2010 7:59:00 AM From Authorid: 4995 I will pray for you. Hang in there. |
Date: 11/26/2010 8:06:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 64723 Thank you SO much Celtic Princess! We definitely need that! LOL, I'm convinced thats the only way our car passed inspection. I had a bunch of FB friends praying! Thank you. I'm too embarrassed to say anything on FB about this though. |
Date: 11/26/2010 8:13:00 AM From Authorid: 16916 I am in a very similar situation, Amanda. I am sending prayers your way. Also the DHS where I live offers transportation. You should try to look into that. |

Thank you! I'll be praying for you too! Do you mean that they offer rides back and forth to appointments? |
Date: 11/26/2010 9:31:00 AM From Authorid: 31765 First, **hugs** Hang in there; everything will work out. Now, go from here to google and first find Salvation Army. They usually have a food bank and you can get a decent amount of food from there once a month. They also help with utilities and rent. It might be a one time shot, but it'll keep your head above water for now. Also check into Saint Vincent de Paul. Tell them your gas situation and if they can't actually get you some gas money they might be able to arrange a ride for you. While you're googling, find local churches. Then get on the phone. Call and ask if they have a food bank, or ANY kind of services for your situation. And ask every one of those places to refer you to anyone else who can help. **hugs** I know it's hard...been there myself many times. But the bad stuff never lasts Take care of yourself and family. Oh and last, check your messages |

Kristina - I checked out our dhhs and they don't offer help with transportation. it was worth a try tho, thank you for the suggestion. Lady Phoenix - Thank you so much for the suggestions. I just called the closest salvation army, and unfortunately they only help out with drug rehab. Understandable tho, since that area is known for being a big area for drug problems. And I can't find a St. Vincent De Paul anywhere near us. It's ridiculous how little assistance there is in my area! There are so so so so many people who need it too. I was just telling my husband last night how badly I want to help in some way - bring toys to a shelter or ask our church to start a food pantry or soup kitchen... but after seeing how desperate our situation is right this moment, I think I might need to wait on that. Thats another thing too... we live in a church building. They just sold the building to a private school, and thats why we don't have as much leeway, rentwise. But our church has never been big on helping out others. My mom heads up the missionary outreach for our church, but they only help people in Africa... not here. (And yes, now that we have a car we definitely plan on finding a different church!) Ya know, since I'm writing you a book, I think I'll just PM you. |

Lady Phoenix, I have been keeping that in mind, making up the steps later, since I read that. Thank you! and thank you so much CC Thats our plan - first thing on Monday when things open back up we're gonna be busting our bums trying to get some help. I keep thinking it can't last TOO long, if we just work hard and try to get out of this situation. Just when we thought we had our heads above water, we sink again. But like I keep saying "We've got nowhere to go but up from here! " |
Date: 11/28/2010 9:43:00 AM From Authorid: 46486 WIC, hit up a food shelf if you are near one. Atleast with WIC you are going to get the things like bread, milk, etc. WIC in New Hampshire is crazy.. fruits, veggies.. its nuts lol |
Date: 11/28/2010 9:51:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 64723 Fallin Angel - do you live in NH? A really good friend of mine does and she was telling me how amazing the WIC there is! I can't wait til tomorrow to do all of this! I think once we get over this hump, we'll be ok! |

Call your dhhs and ask if they have any CIP funds. Its the Crisis Intervention Program. It is a one time service where they will pay your light bill. Also you might qualify for a LIEAP check, it isn't much at all, about $50 twice a year, it is the Low Income Energy Assistance Program check. If I think of anymore, I'll add on another reply. |
