Dear Kevin,
You are well missed. You and I played on Delta Force 2 and we were a good team. You'd shoot and cover me and I'd blow things up. It was a lot of fun!
You and would play on the Axis and Allies game board for hours and hours and the game would take days to finish. and I will never forget the Christmas of Army Men!!!!
I had the dining room packed solid, soldiers, and tanks, hand made pill boxes, bunkers, card board built battle field with trenchs and fox holes.
The green army men, always American, had hand painted patches on their shoulders (dab of different color paint) to mark what unit they were in. Black, Blue, Yellow, Gold, White... there were so many that boxes had to sit on the floor because there wasn't enough room on the table.
I saw your mouth drop open when you saw them all.
Perfect Christmas for a 7 year old.
You and I would play strategy games all the time, Stratego, Command and Conquer, Warcraft just to name a few.
We'd play football and we'd trounce the computer all the time.
One game we had fifteen minute quarters and I can't remember how high are score was - did it stop at a hundred? Or did we get higher? Over a 1,000 yards rushing in a game, much more than that passing. I forget - ten sacks or more?
The computer scored on a touchdown once and I think a field goal or two.
I miss you. We had a lot of fun. Your parents and William misses you too.
I'm sorry we couldn't help you. We tried. We listened we talked. You cried for help in we were all there.
I still remember our last phone call. You just got accepted in college, you were looking forward to going to school and you wanted to visit me. I was looking forward to it.
Then you took your own life on April 20,2009.
Thats a date I actually had to look up. The date I remember most was December 25, 1998.
You had your friends over and they said, "You have more army men than ANYBODY!"
I remember for months I would buy every bag of army men I could get my hands on. I would go back when a new shipment came in and buy it all again!
I even got some of it atg discount prices because I bought so much. I can't remember how many stores I went to 5? 6?
I miss you my friend and I saw you as a younger brother. Maybe not blood related but you might as well have been.
Thanks for the memories little bro.
You are MISSED!
- Matthew
