I'm feeling okay with this...

I did something... possibly stupid today. I quit my job. There are only maybe 20 something days left in the season, but I REALLY wanted to stick it out to the end. So, I've been doing my best. Working as much as possible, etc. Unfortunately morning sickness has been kicking me in the bum. Hard. I had to call out two days this week because I was throwing up so much and I had a fever. And my husband and I had an argument about me calling out the second day because I didn't want to. I just wanted to go in and do my thing. Well, I worked last night, and this morning came into work with my daughter and husband. They were going to spend the day, while I was working, going on rides, and playing games, and then when I got off work I'd join them. Well, at one point, about an hour before I was supposed to clock in, and before the park opened, they went down the mainway to look for drinks. The topmost manager walked by and I said 'Morning Joey. How ya doing? He said 'If you call in one more time in the next six weeks, don't bother coming back. I don't care how sick you are, your job comes first. My jaw kinda dropped, and he walked away. My husband came back about two seconds later and I told him. He was LIVID, and yeah, I was too. So I sat, and thought about it for awhile, and talked to my husband about it, and we decided I should just quit. I went and told another manager, who also happens to be a close friend of mine. Her response was 'Good. I would have done the same thing you did'. I'm about ready to go scream at him now. So, we left, since once you quit you are not allowed on the park property. I came back about 4 hours later to get my daughters car seat and my friend came out and said 'All the other managers have your back. In fact, Mark (the manager in line to get Joey's job) is so angry he's going to the owners'. I was in shock. I knew what he said was wrong... I mean seriously? Threaten to fire a pregnant woman because of issues in the pregnancy??? Hi, lawsuit. But, I didn't expect everyone else to be so upset about it. It makes me sad that I left the job, because I have some amazing managers, but like my husband said, I don't need the stress of worrying about my job, on top of my health issues AND the pregnancy. So. Just needed to get all that off my chest. :)

Date: 8/21/2010 2:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 43807    if you start throwing up water= go to your doctor and get some wonderfull anti nauxious pills. Actally if you talk to him/her now maybe they will get you some. I had morning sickness everyday for a month and half with my first. I had to go to the e.r . I know first hand morning sickness can be no fun.

Date: 8/21/2010 3:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 28848    Ha. I knew you did something LOL!! but in all seriousness, you did the right thing. I was worried about you working right now anyway given your past experiences and health issues. That guy sounds like a real jerk. Just worry about yourself and your health right now.
Date: 8/21/2010 3:25:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 64723    LOL, am I that obvious???
At first, before I told anyone, I was worried I was overreacting, but... I see now that I was ok to be that mad. Ya know, I was so mad I was shaking. I have NEVER in my life been that angry before to the point that I would shake. It takes quite a bit to get me mad.
I got all "awwww" when you said you were worried. I guess quite a few people were. I probably should have worried more myself, but I am glad to be able to just relax right now. Not having to worry about whether I'll get a potty break before I throw up will be a relief.

Date: 8/21/2010 4:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    I've been there.

When I got pregnant with my first I was doing housekeeping at a hotel. They wouldn't cut my work load, and still expected me to be moving 27(?) inch tv's and furniture on a regular basis. I walked out....

Hope you feel better. I had horrible ms with my oldest until 20 weeks I was puking multiple times every day, even with the meds. yucko!

Date: 8/21/2010 10:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 62679    I went through crap like this at my job, they made me carry armloads of charts throughout the clinic (it added up, they weighed alot) and I also wanted to cut back my hours but they wouldn't let me, so I just quit one day.
Date: 8/23/2010 7:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 13119    you should be putting in a formal complaint to the owners and mention the whole thing that you told another manager etc.
