USM GTG 2010.. Count down.. TODAY!!! Updated

Oregon Get Together 2010

Well only a few days away and so much to look forward to. It will be time to see old faces and new, and no I am not talking about age. Many have said they will be there and some due to unforeseeable circumstances can’t make it. We are happy to see everyone no matter if you have come before. This year will be a little different from the last GTG as we have moved locations. This Year it is at Cape Lookout State Park near Tillamook in Oregon. Yes I will be going to get me some cheese! There is camping paid for up to 25 people currently. I have not gotten word from enough people to purchase more space. Those in hotels will have to pay $5.00 to get in. I am not sure if those camping in the group site will have to pay I have to ask the park when I get there. If you need word before you arrive please message me and let me know as I will need your phone number or a phone number where you can be reached. The group site is site B. The group site is reserved for Friday night to Monday morning. The day use shelter is reserved for Friday through Sunday.

 

Below are the rules of the park:

 

• Campground quiet hours are between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.

 

• Maximum eight people and two vehicles per campsite (extra vehicle fee applies). < -----------This does not apply to those with us in the group site.

 

• Vehicles must be parked on paved areas only.

 

• Bicycles are permitted on park roads, but ride them with the traffic flow.

Riders under age 16 must wear helmets.

 

• When your pet is not confined in a vehicle or tent, you must hold it, hold on to

its collar or physically control it on a leash that is no longer than six feet. Wastes

must be properly removed. (For details, ask for our “Pets in the Parks” brochure.)

 

• Please do not feed wildlife. Secure all food and food containers inside your

vehicle. Dispose of trash in containers at our recycling center.

Jun 11 Friday

Few showers. Highs in the upper 50s and lows in the upper 40s.

　

Jun 12 Saturday

Times of sun and clouds. Highs in the low 60s and lows in the upper 40s.

　

Jun 13 Sunday

Partly cloudy. Highs in the mid 60s and lows in the low 50s.

　

Jun 14 Monday

Considerable cloudiness. Highs in the low 60s and lows in the low 50s.

　

Please pack clothing and items as needed. Those in tents be prepaid to pitch them in the rain on Friday.

On to the most important part, what we are doing.

 

 

Friday:

 

Arrival and Welcome of everyone. I will be getting there ASAP to welcome everyone. The welcome will go on until we must all go to bed… quiet hours and all. The pizza will be in the day use shelter area as well as the meeting. Please note if you are a camper please see me (Becky) to find out where you can put your tent up.

 

Dinner: 5pm -until gone Pizza. The pizza has already been paid for. If you have a specific diet or any other condition you will need to provide your own food.

 

 

Saturday:

 

It is all about hanging out. There are no activates at this time planned for during the day other than welcome everyone who comes and have fun. After Dinner there will be the White Elephant Gift exchange. You can bring anything you like wrapped up or not. Any gifts that require you to be of a certain age (alcohol or anything like it) will need to be marked. You do not have to spoil the surprise but it must be marked so no one under the age ends up with it. After the exchange we will share Ghost or unexplained stories. These can be your stories or you may use one of USM’s stories. Please make sure to check with the author and get their approval. Please also state where you got the story. Smores will be shared with the stories.

 

 Breakfast: 9am to 10:30am Pancakes. The pancakes will only be served with butter and syrup. Anything beyond that will be up to individuals. The pancakes are being made by me and there is no cost to those brave enough to eat my cooking. If you have a specific diet or any other condition you will need to provide your own food.

Lunch: 12pm-2pm Everyone will be on there own for this meal but I encourage everyone to eat together. This is not being provided for.

Dinner: 5pm to 6:30pm Hamburgers and hotdogs. They will be served with buns, and some condiments. Anything that you specifically like you will need to provide for yourself. If you have a specific diet or any other condition you will need to provide your own food.

After Diner: SMORES! Mmmm yummy! There will be marshmallows, chocolate and gram crackers.

 

 

 

Sunday:

 

Today is about being together and having fun. There are no events planned on this day except for ringing of the bell for all those who we have lost. This event will take place at 3pm. Have fun! This will be the last full day.

Monday:

 

Packing up and going home. Everyone will be packing their bags or their tents. There is no day use shelter reserved. Any wishing to say goodbye at the park must meet up at the group site for their goodbyes.

 

Check-in after 4 p.m., Check-out by 1 p.m.

UPDATE:

 

Hey everyone it is getting down to where we will soon be counting hours. I have been asked a question of what you should bring.

 

1. Tent (if camping) or Make sure you have other arrangements made.

 

2. Sleeping bag or blankets

 

3. Clothing appropriate for the weather. It will be cold and on Friday it will rain.

 

4. Food. Although some food will be provided you will still need some of your own.

 

5. Drinks. There is nothing but water being given. Water is from the fountains at the Park.

 

6. Games or something to do. I encourage all that want to bring games for all to play to bring them.

 

7. Anything you would like to share with the group.

 

8. White Elephant Gift. It is not mandatory to bring one but it would make it more fun. If you are bringing a gift that is only for someone of a certain age like wine please mark it for the age group. That way when someone opens it they can enjoy it and not trade it around.

 

9. Story. We will be sharing stories on Saturday night. You may bring one of your own or you may borrow one. Please ask the author if you would like to borrow one.

 

10.YOU! 

This is going to be a fun weekend and I think it will be great meeting and seeing all of you. I am driving up so I will not be there until the afternoon on Friday 12-13 hour drive. I encourage all of you to meet up when you would like. Once I am in town I plan on going straight to the campsite. I will be leaving to get the Pizza on Friday so if you come just before 5 I will be missing. I will be asking some people to help with getting everything set. Since we are at a group site I am not sure the positioning for the tents. While I am gone I will have someone there to help you be directed to where to put your tent. Remember it will be raining.

The ranger at the booth said--because of privacy issues--that he couldn't tell who had rented out the group campground. I walked around the camping area, but no one was flying an USM banners. Finally decided that I was there too early, so I came back to my motel to do some schoolwork. I will check in later. Is the meet at the Day-Use area, or the campground?

Meeting area nice circular cover with picnic tables. No trash cans, though. Very odd. Near to the crashing waves and hiking trails. Never got to see George & Ginger. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.
