Early Morning Fireworks

Ok, so I'm asleep and suddenly hear this "pop" "pop" then "boom!". I look over to the window to my right and I see blue and orange flashes coming in brightly. I didn't know if I was dreaming or not but I fell off the bed trying to dive for cover just in case it wasn't a dream but it was pitch black. After about 5 minutes, I popped my head up from the edge of the bed and I could still see a faint orange glow outside my window. I went to my brother's room and he heard the same thing and no sooner had I said anything, the fire department showed up. There was chaos and people going everywhere. By the time I had gone outside, I could see that a branch had taken down our power lines but the lines that were still up were glowing a bright orange like a heating element. All this before 7 am... welcome to Monday!

How it changed my life:

It wasn't so mysterious as it was awful to be awakened in that manner...

Date: 3/1/2010 3:21:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62956    I hit the deck, Z. I wasn't about to wait a second longer to find out. Fortunately, it happened early enough to where everyone was asleep so no one got zapped. It sure startled me and the early birds and squirrels though. Thanks!
Date: 3/1/2010 4:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 15157    The other night I had a dream that I fell out of bed and hit my head really hard!....Then when I woke up my head hurt really bad.

I know I did not fall out of bed!

I have also heard about this...http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35606027/ns/health-behavior/

Date: 3/1/2010 5:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 30097    That is weird. The other night, i heard the same thing in my neighborhood. It was the middle of the week, there was no special holiday. I went outside, and i hear people singing in a different language.

Wild, do you live close to an Asian community? I think the Lunar New Year was just celebrated recently and that could account for the singing and fireworks.
I've done that a few times myself, Kiki, where I woke up with a knot on my head and no memory of how it got there. I'm thinking that I fall out of bed and then put myself back into bed all while I'm asleep... no telling...
I sure am glad too that it didn't catch fire, Stormchaser, although it was raining then which I don't know if that would have made matters better or worse.
Date: 3/9/2010 11:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 63962    I was going to say, before I read the power line part, that it didn't sound like fireworks but that it probably was power lines! How right I was! LOL
