DAVE MUSTAINE ANNOUNCES RETURN OF FOUNDING BASSIST DAVID ELLEFSON TO MEGADETH LINE-UP

Megadeth founder and frontman Dave Mustaine has announced the return of original bassist David Ellefson (1983-2002) to the iconic multi-platinum group. This reunion is appropriately timed to Megadeth’s upcoming historic month-long Rust In Peace 20th anniversary tour which launches March 1 in Spokane, WA. At these incredibly special shows, Megadeth will play their landmark, genre-defining 1990 album Rust In Peace in its entirety, in addition to other Megadeth favorites.

"This shows the power of brotherly love and forgiveness,” Mustaine says. “David Ellefson belongs in Megadeth. Next we are going to show you the power of getting your butts kicked...HARD!"

David Ellefson concurs: "This is a huge moment for all of us, band and fans alike. It is a great celebration of the music from one of the biggest landmark albums of our career."

Ellefson will join Mustaine and Megadeth band members Shawn Drover (drums) and Chris Broderick (guitar) on tour in support of the group’s current CD Endgame, which has received some of the highest critical accolades of the band’s career.

"We'd like to thank James LoMenzo for several years of loyal service on the bass, and wish him the very best," Mustaine adds.

-----------------------

This is so cool! James Lomenzo was a great bassist, but Dave Ellefson was THE bassist for Megadeth. I'm so glad Mustaine was able to put his problems aside for this. also, I'm seeing Megadeth on this Rust In Peace 20th Anniversary Tour! I can't wait, I'm seeing them on March 15 at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC.

With Ellefson returning to Megadeth and the "Big Four of Thrash" shows this summer, I think Mustaine really is changing for the better!

Date: 2/9/2010 10:00:00 AM  From Authorid: 62956    This is going to be one tour to remember! I swear James Lomenzo has been a hired hand for just about every awesome group you can think of. Although I never saw White Lion, that was the first band I remember him being in. I went to see David Lee Roth years back and he was the bass player then. I saw Black Label Society a while back and he was there playing too. At least he's keeping busy, that's great! Keep rockin'!

Date: 2/9/2010 2:08:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 63047    haha, he is always busy. That's cool though. I saw a small article where Dave (Ellefson) was talking about rejoining, and the way he was talking, it sounds like James planned to leave on his own. So Shawn Drover apparently texted him and told him to talk to Mustaine, and they worked this out just over the weekend. Kinda weird how fast it all happened, eh?
Date: 2/13/2010 10:06:00 AM  From Authorid: 51876    I meet Ellefson once at Joe's garage he and Kerry King joined Pantera onstage in this little club and played deth and slay tunes with them, they signed autographs and all. He is a Class Act all around. This was around 1987-88.
