The Smoky Joe Show -- Man of Asgard

A lot of USMers enjoy good music. I have discovered this in my years of being in the family here. I also know everyone has their own taste and likes and dislikes of musical styles. I have a favorite I would like to share and I admit to being a little prejudice because the artist is my own little brother Joe. His professional name is Smokey Joe Peoples and right now he lives in North Carolina.. He was born in Washington, lived in Missouri and Arkansas growing up. This website is about him and his band. He writes nearly all of his songs and his daughter Susan sings with them sometimes. So for some down home relaxing, check him out, he is the one with the long beard. His style is a little unique, I don't have a name for it besides real honest country.  He is the male vocalist and Susan is the female vocalist.

Date: 11/10/2009 12:01:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 54444    Sunshine, when we were growing up we always called him cowboy Joe because he liked to wear a cowboy outfit. He pays a lot of instruments and started on the accordion when he was five. When he got his first band together I guess is when he started going by Smokey.

Date: 11/10/2009 2:01:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 54444    Smokey Joe's career as a singer-songwriter began in 1983 as the primary creative force behind the Wisteria Sting Band out of Pensacola, Florida. Peoples wrote the majority of the original music the Wisteria String Band presented and all that it recorded. The band's recording, "Rollin' On" was released in 1991. In addition, the Wisteria String Band was the house band for Florida Public Radio's W.U.W.F radio live program "On the Road" for over four years. Along with their busy public radio schedule, the band performed at many festivals and events throughout the Southeast. These include The Florida Folk Festival in White Springs, Fla. and The City Lights Festival in Nashville, TN. The band even went on to be nominated twice for "String Band of the Year" at the prestigious SPIGMA Convention in Nashville, TN.

Currently, Smokey Joe is still writing and singing uniquely original songs that he now performs with Chelsea Goodman (Lead Vocals, Egg), Tom Rogers (Harmonicas), Darryl Goodman (Bass), George Brasington (Drums), Lonnie Finley (Mandolin, Lead Guitar). Together, Smokey Joe and his band of five released their own album in November of 2007, entitled “Little Buildings”. This album received wide radio station acclaim across the country. It also lead to their winning “The Charlotte Music Awards” best country band of 2008. They are currently wrapping up the new album project “Tail Fins and Tale Spins” which will be released the spring of 2009.
