Date: 10/7/2009 10:18:00 PM From Authorid: 28848 This is such a scary thing that kids do. I have watched documentaries about huffing, the effects both short term and long term. Its just horrible what it does to these kids. The risk of brain damage and death are so high. It makes you wonder why kids would be willing to do something so dangerous for a quick high. I guess that is the addiction part of it. I will definitly keep you and your son in my thoughts Cory. |
Date: 10/7/2009 10:28:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 30051 Thank you all and I will print this off for him, when I go see him so he knows people DO care!! He has even met some USMers. We went to the first USM campout. Looking back at that little boy I never would have thought it would come to this. He has always hated my pill use but I guess It's different for him. |

Hey there. I'm sure right now theres a fair amount of guilt about your son going down this road. "If I wasn't an addict, my son wouldn't be" Heres perhaps another perspective: Perhaps your journey down that road has its purpose. Its purpose is to teach YOU the road so that you may teach it to your son. You've walked that road, so you know the directions, you know the pitfalls, you know the intersections and the rest-stops along the way. By you walking down that road it has also afforded you the knowledge of the way back. Peace. |

Really hope everthing turns out alright for the both of you. I know what it is like living with addiction and know what it can do to families and communities. The worst thing now for the both of you is for you to start blaming yourself. No use will come out of this and it will only hold you back from helping your son now in his time of need. I again wish you the best of luck Irish Lass |
Date: 10/10/2009 12:40:00 PM From Authorid: 22628 My husband and I have both been struggling with our addiction for a while. When we were younger it was all about partying. Its harder to get younger people to understand or even care what they're doing to themselves.. but its also much easier for them to stop with the right amount of help. Good luck Coryann. |
