Insane Clown Posse's new critically-acclaimed album (that's not a typo! it's their best reviewed album ever: 3/5 from Allmusic, 3.5/5 from Consequence of Sound, "B" from The Detroit News, 3.5/4 from Fangoria, "Favorable" from Metro Times, 3.5/5 from Washington City Paper) "Bang! Pow! Boom!" debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 (#1 on Billboard's "Top Independent Albums") on September 1. The album features a "return" to the Dark Carnival mythos (last seen in their album "Hell's Pit: Shangri-La" in 2006), and has some darn catchy song/hooks like In Yo Face and To Catch A Predator, good storytelling like Fonz Pond and I Found A Body, and songs in a whole new style for the band like The Bone and Juggalo Island. But the reason I'm even writing this review is to sing the praises of the song Vera Lee. The song about a high school loner, a nice girl, and a sudden death is without a shadow of a doubt my favorite song of theirs ever. The lyrics tell a haunting tale of the famous adage "You don't know what you've got until it's gone". The music is produced perfectly by Mike E. Clark. The vocals were performed faultlessly. Everything about the song makes it as close to a "masterpiece" as two rapping clowns can get.
