Classic PBS shows

I just spent the last half hour youtube-ing classic Sesame Street videos. My town didn't get cable until I was about seventeen so most of my childhood was spent watching PBS, and all the classics, like Reading Rainbow, Mr. Rogers, Sesame Street, 321 Contact and Slim Goodbody... I still love watching Sesame Street with my daughter, and it's still a good show, but not as great as it was. I'm kinda curious why they don't have shows like this anymore. Yes, PBS still has "educational" shows, like Word Girl and Sid the Science Kid, but they are not even close to what they had in the 80's. Those were actually educational shows. Here are some awesome classic clips:

What would you say is your favorite classic PBS show/clip?

Date: 9/5/2009 12:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 37809    Jumping Jehoshaphat on a stick, it's old PBS clips. That crayon creation clip was a serious favorite of man back when I was a younger version of me. I'd even venture out to say that it is my favorite PBS clip of all time. Man, Slim Goodbody though... dude had the Richard Simmons hair and went out with a flesh-toned, body-fitting suit with all the body's organs painted on the front. I always wondered if the dude like went out to CostCo or Burger King in that get-up. Would make for interesting times... well before the heat showed up and arrested him.

I guess the guy who played Slim Goodbody goes all over the country (yes, in that outfit) and goes to school and does little talks! I had so many other clips I wanted to put up, but I didn't know if there was a clip limit or anything. It's good talking to you! It's been a couple weeks! I missed my twin! ~Blacksunshine
Date: 9/5/2009 1:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 37809    I heard that he did, and I'm telling you, I would have loved for him to come to my school back in the day. But look at it this way, say you are walking down a dark alley alone and you see either A: Mr. Rogers, B. Big Bird or C. Slim Goodbody. A is a kindly old man, B is a beloved icon and C... well, if I saw Slim Goodbody stalking the alley I'd be running the opposite direction for sure.

...

I have issues with Mr. Goodbody it seems, haha. Okay, not really. It is good talking to you and I have missed you as well, I need to come out of my self-imposed Slim Goodbody hiding to talk more, eh?

You do need to come out of your Slim Goodbody hiding! ~Blacksunshine

Date: 9/5/2009 8:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 7710    Mr. Rogers was always my fave show growing up.

LOL I used to call "Sesame Street" "Stephanie Street" because I couldn't say "sesame", and I have a sister name "Stephanie"

Date: 9/6/2009 8:58:00 AM  From Authorid: 4995    I used to LOVE Sesame Street and was delighted when I got to watch it again through my daughter's eyes when she was just one or two. It fascinated her. Now it's all Power Rangers,Star War Clones and her Nintendo DS. I miss the baby days. *sigh*
Date: 9/6/2009 9:59:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 64723    I don't think I'd ever be able to pick a favorite show, but Sesame Street is a little bit ahead. The shows back then were sooooo great! ~Blacksunshine
