So, How Much Money (Specifically ladies).........................................Becky

Especially if you have LONG hair....

How much would someone have to pay you, to get you to shave your head, or go perhaps a very very short pixie??  I'm talking if your hair is really long.

Further more did you know you CAN sell your hair?  (well I'm sure everyone knew it...) There are websites specifically dedicated to it.  Kinda neat.

Anyway, I'm about ready to chop off my hair.  Typically I donate it.  And then I remembered about this.  And quite frankly I cannot even begin to tell you how many hospital visits we've had and the doctors trips we've taken in the last two months.  it's a little hard to turn down the potential money. (Let me please stress that we really are in no means 'hurting'....but we do now have a lot of new found debt *GAG*....and at some point do need to acquire a washer/dryer...)

So anyway, I have this one gentlemen who is trying to convince me to shave my head.  Now. I do not think he'll be able to come up with a number that would make me more 'ok' with shaving my head.  However a Pixie I suppose is not totally out of the realm of possibility.

Most people think I'm pretty weird being so skiddish.  Most I talk to would be more than willing to shave their head.  It is hair, it does grow back.  But I would have to live with myself until it did!  And besides, it's currently to the top of my hips.  That's a HUGE change!!! (Heck a pixie would be.  And originally I said I was only willing 15 inches, which would put me just above the shoulders).....

So ladies..............what would someone have to pay you to shave your head?  Guys.....how would you feel if your wife/girlfriend did it?!

HEY, LOOK it's cousin it!!

Date: 8/6/2009 8:58:00 AM  From Authorid: 64667    I'm not sure about a set price, but it would defintely have to be enough to cover the cost of a good wig!
My hair has never been as long as what you describe your's as, but years ago it was past my sholders and i went to a very short shag and i loved it! Still do.
Short hair is very liberating, it does wonders for emphasizing your eyes and cheekbones and people notice you instead of your hair.

Date: 8/6/2009 9:01:00 AM  From Authorid: 22852    @}~~ Like I told you before Becky, I would love to shave my head {I just don't have the guts} My husband says NO WAY when I talk about it. So I figure most men don't want their woman to do it. But hey look at it this way, if you shave it then the baby can't pull your hair and your shower time will be cut in half LOL
Date: 8/6/2009 9:02:00 AM  From Authorid: 64747    I dont think no matter amount of money I would shave my head or go to the 'bob'. I havn't got that long hair but its long enough jut past my shoulder blades and i love it. You may find me vain but I love my hair i love experimenting with it different style and colours. I wouldn't know what I do if i shaved of all my hair. ~Irish Lass~
Date: 8/6/2009 9:03:00 AM  From Authorid: 28190    I just recently donated 14 inches of my hair to locks of love. I usually donate it after growing my hair for 2-3 years. I wanted to get it cut much shorter to make it more of a donation, but I had family portraits the next week, and didn't want to risk a "forever" bad haircut or something.

I was even seriously considering shaving it all the way down, or pixie cutting it too. If I didn't have pictures to take the next week, I probably would have pixie cut it. I'm not going to be growing out again for awhile, but next time I do, I plan to pixie cut it.

I don't think I'd sell my hair. I'd rather donate it to a place like locks of love, before anything else, but, that's just me. If you need the money and the money isn't too bad, then I say go for it. Yep, it will be short, but it will grow back. Besides, with your beautiful face, I am sure a pixie cut would look awesome on you!

Good luck deciding what to do hun.

*hugs*

Date: 8/6/2009 9:11:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16845    And shampoo bill would drop....and conditioner. You people have ANY idea how much conditioner I need to use. Not only is it to my hips. At the shoulder it's 4 inches thick....

Cynion -- glad to know some have the guts to do such a drastic change. Can I borrow some?

Joan -- He sounds like Danny, when I'd jokingly mention it to him it was always 'it's your hair' and then the opportunity possibly arises and then it's NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Not that he 'really' has final say, but his opinion matters to me I think he'd be ok with to the chin.

Irish -- I love my hair too. It's just time to cut it though. Typically I only go to about the shoulder though. Then start all over

I joke if I shaved it I'd need therapy...

Date: 8/6/2009 9:13:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16845    Amanda, Yep Locks of love is who's gotten quite a bit of my hair in the past. I've actually wrestled with myself over if I could forgive myself for selling this go round over donating. But in the end. For this go round, I think this option is the best one at the moment.
Date: 8/6/2009 9:16:00 AM  From Authorid: 64723    When I was seventeen I had waist length dreads. When I was eighteen I shaved my head. At that time I loved both styles. I couldn't have cared less. Now it would take a bit more for me to be willing to shave my head. Why are you having a hard time with the idea of cutting so much hair off? Is it because you are so attached to it? Is it because you think you'll look silly with a shaved head? Pixie's are super cute too.
Good luck with your decision ~Blacksunshine

Date: 8/6/2009 9:21:00 AM  From Authorid: 3263    I've always had long hair, not quite as long as yours but mid back. I just recently cut mine into an inverted bob and I love it. Now I'm almost thinking about going a little shorter (it's about 3 inches above my shoulders at the longest point). My only regret is not donating the hair; I was too focused on FINALLY getting my hair cut to think of anything else.

I couldn't see shaving my head. Sure, it's just hair, and sure, it grows back, but I don't see how I could live with that look for as long as it took to get it back to a decent length.

Date: 8/6/2009 9:21:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16845    I wouldn't say I'm that attached to it. Like I said, I'm ready right now *If I had someone to watch the kids* to go hack a good portion off. But the shortest I've ever gone is just above the shoulder. Which I DID like. I'm just worried, even a Pixie is too much of a change.....I know it's hair and it grows back. But man that would suck if I hated it!

A full shave would net over 1,000 though.....(I don't know how much more, however.....)

Date: 8/6/2009 9:23:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16845    Inverted Bob is what I was kinda looking at for the near chin length
Date: 8/6/2009 9:29:00 AM  From Authorid: 61933    ya know... When I was young my hair was so long I could sit on it. in 8th grade I had it cut up midway up my back. Today? Its just below my shoulders and thats because it grew out.

If my hair was long right now? I would have it chopped in a heartbeat - I don't care how long and beautiful it is, now that being said I'm talking a PIXIE cut not shaved hehe.

Why? Well money is all fine and dandy - and if people are offering I'd ask as much as I can get hehe, but my ulterior motive? Because I have VERY VERY VERY insanely thick hair and when it gets barely halfway down my back I get HORRIBLE headaches hehe, but the people paying me don't need to know that do they? rofl (besides my hair grows annoyingly fast anyway)

Date: 8/6/2009 9:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 21435     I love it, Becky! You crack me up, lady. Thanks for the pict and by all means: "Right on! You, crazy diamond, you.
Date: 8/6/2009 10:02:00 AM  From Authorid: 21266    LOL You've got beautiful hair....I don't know how much you can get it for you can ask around different hair salons?
Date: 8/6/2009 10:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 3835    I would not sell or donate my hair anymore. It is below where I sit.. I donated my hair 5 times in my lifetime for cancer patients. I have also sold it once for some extra cash when I was a very young mother of two children, and money was pretty tight for about three months.

Now, at my age.. it will keep growing. Why? Because when I expire, I want my hair braided while in pigtails, then cut as close to my scalp as possible and each braided end will go to my children as a remembrance of Mom.

For all that I spend on my hair now, and for all the hassles that extremely long hair gives at times.. it is worth it for my children to have that lock of my hair in good condition. What they do with it is up to them, but I believe they will keep it

Date: 8/6/2009 10:46:00 AM  From Authorid: 35720    It would have to buy me a BMW and pay my rent for the rest of the year, I'll tell you that.
Date: 8/6/2009 10:49:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16845     Rika..
Date: 8/6/2009 1:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 7710    I'd do it if I weren't so self-conscious about how I look lol
Date: 8/6/2009 2:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 64365    There is no amount of money that can make me shave my head, get a pixie, or anything...
Date: 8/6/2009 3:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 29928    Becky, let me tell you a little funny. Around 10 years ago, I had brain surgery for an anurysm (never could spell that word). Well, yup, they shaved me bald..lol. But you know outside of having the surgery, it wasn't too bad. Everyone bought me these cute little turban thingies to wear, but I had this huge incision and they hugged my head right on top of it. That would never do and I never have been one to really care about what other people think anyway....if they didn't like how I looked, they could trun away. Heck I had just been saved from brain surgery..I was just happy to be alive Well I normally color my hair dark auburn and I drove my doctor crazy to give me a date for when I could color my stubble..lol Finally, the day came and he said I could. At this point my hair was maybe an inch long and stuck out every which way...real spikey

That afternoon after coloring it. I went shopping, hair uncovered of course. I was standing in a check-out line and this little boy behind me very excitedly screamed, "Mommy, look, look. It's Mrs. Woody Wood Pecker!!! I just laughed. The mom was terribly embarassed and I couldn't do anything but laugh. It was so cute and I instantly became a celebratey although I never thought I looked like a wood peacker..red hair or not. My whole bald experience wasn't really that bad and boy, it did make taking a shower so much faster. Hugs, Pammierose

Date: 8/6/2009 3:24:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16845     Pammie thanks for sharing your story!!!
Date: 8/6/2009 5:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 53054    I could not shave my hair. (Well maybe). I dont even like getting it cut, let alone shaved off...Its now around my shoulder blades but that is as short as it has been in a long time (I dont like getting haircuts at all) so getting it shaved would totally freak me out!
Date: 8/6/2009 5:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 13546    Someone would have to pay me quite a bit to shave all my hair off.. I have quite long hair myself, and I don't think I could part with it for nothing. I know I would never want to shave it all off, even a pixie is quite the change (short hair does not look so good on me.) But if something comes up and I am in need, my mind may be swayed.

I have cut many inches off before and donated to locks of love, but at my shoulder I think is the shortest I will go.

Good luck to you!

Date: 8/7/2009 12:12:00 AM  From Authorid: 63725    Many times I have thought of going bald but I am too chicken.
Date: 8/8/2009 10:01:00 AM  From Authorid: 61966    LOL, love the picture. It would have to be a huge chunk of change before I'd shave my head! Short hair has it's benefits..like using less shampoo and conditioner, not having to brush so much. You may like the short hair....maybe not bald but short.
Date: 8/8/2009 2:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 43991    I wouldn't want to shave it and I don't think I would look right with a pixie cut.. but I am in the process of growing it out to donate it. I have had shoulder length hair my entire life and it's already down to where my bra strap is on my back. I hope that makes sense as to how long it is? lol. I haven't had it cut in about a year. Right now I'm just enjoying having long hair.. it's a lot of fun. I want to get it long enough that when I donate it I have pleanty to donate and I can still have shoulder length hair.. so I have a while to go. Then I can do it all over again! Might as well keep growing it out to help others.
I honestly didn't realize you could sell your hair.. I knew women in other countries did, so I suppose why not here? Interesting! But not something I would do.
