My husband is leaving for basic on Monday...... KorngurlAmanda

There has been so much going on in my life lately, that I haven't really been on the computer much. Some of you know that my husband joined the National guard in December of last year, but this is the first time I am posting about it. He has been participating in their R.S.P drills that they have every month since then, learning things in advance to prepare for Basic.

I thought August would be a long time from then..... but time has really flown by so fast, that my head feels like it's spinning. My husband leaves for basic on Monday. We will be dropping him off at the armory, and I will have to say my goodbyes to him then.

I am kind of in a ball of emotion already, kind of numb too, scared a bit, and above all else I am so very proud of him.

When he leaves, I know I'll be a emotional mess. lol.. He's my best friend, and the love of my life. Still at this point, I can't imagine not waking up to him smiling at me- that's going to be the second roughest part. His smile and his eyes. The main roughest part of all this, is how my lil man is going to react. We've explained it to him as best as we can, but he's sure going to miss his daddy. He's a daddy's boy through and through and totally adores him, completely. This is going to be a trying time, as my lil man starts Pre-K on the 17th this month, and he's so going to miss his daddy in that- (and likewise, Nakoma is going to miss not being able to be there too).

*** Nakoma, I love you with every beat of my heart; every fiber of my soul; with every breath- I love you more. I will miss you, but I will stand proud, as I have always, to be your wife. In the difficult moments while you are away, just close your eyes, and I will be there in spirit right beside you. I can't express how very proud I am of you. You are a wonderful father, a wonderful husband, and a wonderful man already- but I know you'll be a great soldier. Thank you for loving me and just thank you for everything that you've done for me, no matter how big or small. Thank you for serving our family well all these years, and now thank you for serving for our country. I love you so much! ***

With all my heart, I love you Nakoma. *huge hug and kiss*

Oh and Alex did tell me to tell you, "I love you daddy!"

We'll be waiting for your return home and will probably tacklehug you like this:

Please everyone, leave a comment and help me wish him safe travels to Missouri on Monday.

Thank you everyone for reading. :)

(We had a photo session with a friend of mine on the 22nd. She is part of the Operation Love: Reunited for military families. I have permission to put these pictures up. :D  )

Date: 8/1/2009 8:09:00 AM  From Authorid: 13636    How long is his Basic, Amanda? Craig comes home on Friday.

Amanda, the hardest part is Little Man. You'll be so worried that he's handling it well, you won't have time to feel sad. Not to mention, he FORCES you to continue to smile, and go on, so that HE won't feel like crying and stopping. Being a military wife, means being strong for at least two people (I, myself, am going to have to learn to be strong for three real soon). Sometimes, you break down, but that's ok. It's tough, but I know you have it in you.

Date: 8/2/2009 6:26:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28190    Thank you everyone so much for the replies.

His Basic/AIT is 24 weeks. Basic is 14 weeks of that. So, he'll be gone, from what I have been able to gather, around February. He gets to come home two weeks in December though, so it's probably really only 22 weeks. Still a long time. I hope it goes by fast.

Thank you to everyone offering to listen if I need a shoulder. I probably will be taking ya'll up on that soon. Also, thank you to each of your husbands and wives for their service, as well as your's. I know I'm a "newbie" military wife, but with that said, I know the spouses also do a lot of hard work too. My heart goes out to each and every one of you, and I hope each one of your hubbies/wives come home soon.

He leaves at 1pm tomorrow. These last few days though, we've had adventure after adventure, just spending as much time together as possible as a family.

*hugs*

Date: 8/2/2009 9:57:00 PM  From Authorid: 7341    I love the pics...so cute! Good luck Nakoma! And Amanda...you're an amazing strong woman! It will be hard, but you're a wonderful mama so you'll do great...
Date: 8/3/2009 2:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 30229    Oh wow, what a BEAUTIFUL post, babygirl!!!

I can't add anything to this, you said just about all of it except maybe how much his Mom-in-law is going to miss him!!! I love him and will grieve his leaving too. And TODAY is the day.

This is going to be a hard week, but we will all get through it. Remember, babygirl, as much as WE miss him, and as hard as it is on us to see him leave, it will be much harder on HIM!!! HE is the one really sacrificing for you, lil man and our Country and HE will be alone. All he will have are the letters we can send every day until he gets to AIT.

NAKOMA..... we ALL love you so much and you ARE in our hearts, every minute of every day!!!

OHHHHHHH, that pic "MY DADDY.... .....MY HERO" speaks volumes here. Nakoma is his lil man's hero as well as ALL of our HERO!!!

I am here for you, babygirl, and he will be back with us all sooner than we realize, Thank God!!!

Love you all
