Date: 7/7/2009 5:38:00 PM From Authorid: 36850 you should buy some chapstick with spf while you're at it. I don't have any recommendation for the sore/blister thing. But there is a cool episode of Will and Grace about it. That's about all I'm good for right now. |
Date: 7/7/2009 5:52:00 PM From Authorid: 26303 Get a cold sore cream, and put on the cold sore. NEVER, NEVER go for the second swipe with the same finger. The bug stays alive in the tube. Always use a cotton bud, and change ends, then throw out. Don't let anyone else use your towels etc. |

Date: 7/7/2009 7:12:00 PM From Authorid: 47218 Try some aloe vera on it, or look for sunburn treatment products in the medicine aisle. Also, keep a tube of chapstick with sunblock on you. And protect yourself from the sun! If you find that sunburns are a frequent problem for you, then you aren't doing a good job of taking care of your skin, and it'll catch up to you sooner than you expect. You'll start getting wrinkles and sunspots (aka liver spots) before too long (lots of women in their 20's and 30's sporting them these days). And melanoma is common in women in their 20's and 30's. Imagine having to get one of those removed off your lip- it leaves behing a pretty hefty scar. Speaking as someone who's had a lot of moles removed. |

I just got over the exact same thing a few weeks ago after bad sunburn on my lips. Use Carmex like there is no tomorrow first off, then use a COOL/COLD wet washcloth to sooth the pain and decrease the swelling. Some people don't like popping the blisters but I do and clean them out good, with peroxide - its sore as anything admittedly but it helped me. The biggest help was the cool/cold wet washcloth. |

Ahhh yes, I suffered the same thing everytime my lips got sunburnt. I think you have to let the virus that causes it to run it's course and make sure you protect your lips when out in the sunshine next time. The only one I found effective enough during summer was plain old Zinc ointment...I got it in a pink colour and applied it everytime I thought it was wearing off... Maybe it may help you next time...sorry I cannot offer any suggestions to clear the blisters up sooner.. |
Date: 7/7/2009 7:45:00 PM From Authorid: 61933 the reason I was using the cold was because my lips burned so bad from the burn itself on them that I could never handle the hot. I eventually DID switch over to the hot once the pain subsided, but the cool/cold helped the swelling of the blisters decrease and REALLY helped to soothe the burning pain they had in them. |

Date: 7/7/2009 8:10:00 PM From Authorid: 64197 I used to get fever blisters all the time, mainly because I would bite my lower lip all the time. Whenever I would put something on it to make it go away, it would just draw the medicine into it and make it bigger. For the longest time I would just let it be and they went away faster. Then a yr or so ago, I started getting one and I needed it to go away fast, I was having some pics done. I went and bought some champo-phinque and it went away in 2 days!!!! You can feel it start to work as soon as you put it on the fever blister, it tingles and *might* burn just a slight bit, but you can feel it start to work almost immediately. Don't use chap stick or carmex or vaseline, especially if it is still got fever in it, it just draws the stuff into and makes it bigger. I hope whatever you use makes it go away. |

Date: 7/9/2009 6:56:00 PM From Authorid: 55297 I take acylovir 400mg once a day to keep the cold sore from forming, its an RX so call your doctore and ask, if I feel one coming on, I take two that day and the next... It really works, since I started it in Feb 09 I havent gotten one, well, a tiny one, on my lip, not the HUGE HUGE ones I got before... Or Abreva... Worked for me. Actually, Releve worked best, but I cant find it anywhere anymore. I bought both at walmart. Good luck, I gfeel for you since I get them as well.. Oh, a hint I got from my mom, when the blisters start to form, pop them with a sterilized needle and squeeze all the clear stuff out of them until the liquid turns pink, that gets the blister fluid out of tehre and stops them from getting bigger. OR-- ice it till the INSIDE of your lip is cold, the cold kills the virus. Again, good luck. |
