My TV started talking to me
last week,
It wouldn’t be odd except
I haven’t paid the power bill
in months.
It happened when I came home from work,
Another oddity because
I hadn’t been to my job
In a while.
A pretty blonde newscaster
Was on the screen waiting to speak
Watching me as I walked by
Dropping my shoes
And my keys
And falling
Onto my couch
Or the cushions I lay on
The ground in the same place
I hadn’t seen my couch
In months.
We talked, the TV and me
For hours
Hours upon hours and then a few minutes more
She said she loved me for the longest time
And I lied and told her the same.
