I was standing alone
But surrounded by millions
Lost somewhere between
Thought and speech
And how I would do
Anything to be anywhere but here
When it occurred to me
That I only need to close my eyes
Count to ten, them open them
Open them and see everyone turned to stone
Except for me
One breath, one beat, one everything
It was only me.
Side step an arguing couple
And trip on a sleeping dog
Walk the rows of business men made of coal
Searching for my way out.
The breeze didn’t move and the sun
Didn’t shine; but they were there
Crystallized in the moment
Sharing their beauty, but not their soul
The essence and purpose of everything; gone
Except for me
On my tower of stone,
King of millions, but still alone.
