I think the same way it's his body let him do as he pleases lol. My son was born with a semi-forked tongue they call it something else and he had a procedure last year to correct it but, his was in the shape of a heart. |

Haha, I just can't believe he called me conservative.. most people wouldn't say I was conservative in my appearance. That's interesting about your son, did they just sew it together or what? |

Ewwwwwww it made my blood run cold just reading this Rika!! whilst I believe in what anyone wants to do with their bodies etc that is one thing I think is outright ridiculous to be honest...but then I have a phobia about snakes!! !!Struth!! I just looked at the piccy!! why on earth would anyone want that look? |
Date: 6/4/2009 1:24:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 35720 Haha Zema!! I don't know, I really don't.. |
Date: 6/4/2009 1:26:00 AM From Authorid: 42945 I can understand anyone who may have been born with it that way doing something to correct it, but to have it split like that deliberately? lol! I'm sorry Rika, I know it's Cameron's body to do what he chooses, and as far as calling your conservative heheheheee!! you look awesome! |
Date: 6/4/2009 1:54:00 AM From Authorid: 56630 I had a friend who did this recently. I think it looks awesome. Nothing really grosses me out though. Ive seen some pretty gross and grotesque things. I personally would not do it though. *hugs* Luke |
Date: 6/4/2009 5:09:00 AM From Authorid: 50193 Of course Luke would think it looks awesome. ...just saying, lol. My girlfriend wants to do it, and I pretty much have the same stance as you do with your boyfriend in this situation. |
Date: 6/4/2009 5:23:00 AM From Authorid: 19871 I'd find it weird xD Cant imagine how it would feel in my mouth with a hole between the tongue |

That would give him a speech impediment. So if he is happy to have that, well, it's his choice. Pretty drastic. I would suggest that you ask him if he'd thinks he'd want to still get in done in 6 to 12 months, I'm sure he will say yes. Then ask him to wait that long before doing it. He may change his mind in that time. Word of advice to young people. What seems cool when you are young, may not when you are older. These things are 'fashion' or 'trendy' or in his case not conservative, but it is a life long decision. He really needs to think about that. |

it grosses me out! but so do a lot of things....like when people pierce their ears on the very top! yuk. i don't know why that one bothers me so much. i am an old person tho. i only have two holes in each ear! i guess it's his tounge and it's his business. but then again.....he's not the one that has to look at it all the time, you are. just tell him to do whatever you think is right!! |

the thought of it gives me the willies! But like you said, it's his body. The resulting speech impediment will make him sound like a snake, too! and... you are the last person I'd put in the "conservative" category (well, maybe in comparison to Cameron... LOL) |
Date: 6/4/2009 6:43:00 AM From Authorid: 62146 I would have the same attitude as you Rika... lol, conservative :P |

Hey it's his body, if he wants a split-licker, sobeit!! Now, about Rika da Conservative!... No Way!! *Spirit* |
Date: 6/4/2009 7:51:00 AM From Authorid: 61897 Reading that gave me the creeps...lol. Sounds kinda risky, if he wants to do it... And I wouldn't call you "conservative", it's just not your thing. You don't have to like everything he likes and that doesn't make you conservative. |
Date: 6/4/2009 7:56:00 AM From Authorid: 21764 i've seen someone with that done before.. kinda creepy. i wouldn't do it.. but if your boyfriend wants to, go for it.. lol |
Date: 6/4/2009 8:11:00 AM From Authorid: 62679 Ick! I have seen people with that and it is freaky. Besides it seems pretty irreversible and he might regret it sooner or later. He has to be sure he really really wants it |
Date: 6/4/2009 8:21:00 AM From Authorid: 40979 Ew. I couldn't do it. I think it looks really,...well to be honest, gross. If humans were supposed to have tongues like snakes, we would have them already lol. |
Date: 6/4/2009 8:23:00 AM From Authorid: 40979 How would he be able to talk? Wouldn't he have a lisp afterward? |
Date: 6/4/2009 8:34:00 AM From Authorid: 48809 Mercy Rika...I wonder why people want to ruin their looks by having a forked tongue or some of the other strange things they do to themselves? I don't think he will look "cool" when he gets this done...but more like a freak! I hope they don't make a mistake and cut his tongue out...for then he wouldn't be able to speak. I saw a boy that was tackled on a football field one day and bit his tongue completely in two. I always wondered when he had it sewed back on if he could still speak like he had before. Tell him about the man that went to the Dr. to have one of his legs removed because it was cancerous....but the Dr. took off the wrong leg. I know this isn't what he plans to do...but Dr's, do make mistakes! |

I've seen a few people who've had it done and it looks kind of cool. This might sound odd, but with me it just depends on the person (the way the dress, if they have piercings etc...). Sometimes it just sort of fits the person if that makes sense. From the few pics I've seen of Cameron, I don't think it would look bad on him. It's the thought that grosses me out. I couldn't imagine letting someone cut on my tongue. |
Date: 6/4/2009 9:10:00 AM From Authorid: 53961 is thinking maybe you should rethink this relationship... |
Date: 6/4/2009 9:13:00 AM From Authorid: 820 I watched a video of this procedure once, and I could never do that to myself. I could care less if anyone else wants to get it done, I just don't think it's something I would ever want to do to myself. I don't think you're being conservative at all. |
Date: 6/4/2009 9:44:00 AM From Authorid: 21903 I just think that is gross! Would you really wanna kiss him after that? ick... |

Date: 6/4/2009 11:02:00 AM From Authorid: 2030 Other than affecting his speech, looks and job prospects for the rest of his life I think it's a grand idea. |
Date: 6/4/2009 11:03:00 AM From Authorid: 62833 I say if he wants it go for it, but I would never be able to do that to myself! That is an art form to many people, but OUCH it makes my tongue hurt thinking about it! |

Date: 6/4/2009 11:24:00 AM From Authorid: 62849 I'm not a fan. Not to mention that getting it done would probably warrant therapy to re-learn how to say a ton of sounds again.. |

Date: 6/4/2009 1:46:00 PM From Authorid: 37150 No way. There can't be a real point to that and if we were meant to have split tongues, I think we woulda been born that way, but whatever. |

Tattooing and piercings have always been a spiritual experience for me.I have many friends in the industry that are famous and my best friend is a professional piercer. Let me say this, even though he he is a piercer, he is married with children now and regrets some of his past piercings, especially the one where he has to pee sitting down now, lol. There is no reason to split your tounge except being personally obsessed with your own body. It's a world of choices and they are his to make, hope he has it thought out. |
Date: 6/4/2009 5:51:00 PM From Authorid: 36850 uh no thanks. I can't help but wonder what he'll think about it when he's a 65+ year old man and has a split tongue. Something to scare the grandkids and trick-or-treaters with. |

Date: 6/4/2009 7:07:00 PM From Authorid: 15157 Sounds painful but if thats what he likes. I saw this on National Geographics Taboo...it was quite interesting! |
Date: 6/4/2009 8:28:00 PM From Authorid: 23101 Oh my god, I could never do that! If he wants to do that, then more power to him, I'm with you: do whatever you want with your body. But I think BCAR makes a good point that in the future he may not want it because it could interfere with a job or something that he really wants since most people judge based on looks & such. That looks so painful though! |

Cameron doesn't seem to concern himself with future job prospects unfortunately.. As far as thinking it out, I will hand it to him- he has done his research. He's been talking about getting it done since before we got together and that was over two years ago. He just really wants it- again, I don't understand, but to each his own. And yes, he does know it will result in a speech impediment and doesn't seem to mind that either. On the issue of it being irreversible, it's not. The mouth heals very quickly and you actually have to sleep with gauze between the two tongues for weeks as to prevent "regrowth." Even after, there's a great chance that they will grow back together at least partially. Which brings me to the question, why spend over a hundred dollars to do it in the first place if it'll just grow back? Thanks for all the comments, most of you are like me. It's gross, but whatever, do what you want. I can tell you I definitely won't be kissing him as often, haha. |
Date: 6/4/2009 9:07:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 35720 I guess I am a bit conservative in that sense.. I recently rethought a tattoo I was planning on getting on my forearm, because I'm in nursing school and know that it would probably be difficult when I graduate two years from now to find a job with visible tattoos. I already have one on my wrist, which is a simple outline of a heart, and I think that's going to be it for visible ones from now on. I've just grown up I guess. Can't live impulsively forever. |
Date: 6/5/2009 10:47:00 AM From Authorid: 53284 I think that splitting his tongue is a choice that he will regret later in life. It will diminish his prospects for future employment. It definitely has a big creepiness factor attached to it. I think it's pretty stupid. I can still remember being young and foolish so I can appreciate what he is thinking but I think that he needs to consider how this will impact his life in the long run. |

I see you've mentioned the cost, which was going to be the subject of my comment. Is this really something that people think is a good idea to spend money on? I can think of so many other ways to spend "disposable" income on than this and can honestly say that this type of expenditure wouldn't have even crossed my radar -- not even the slightest bleep. God Bless. |
Date: 6/5/2009 12:28:00 PM From Authorid: 62993 It sounds gross to me, but to each his own. |
Date: 6/5/2009 6:57:00 PM From Authorid: 21435 Nope. Try to talk him out of it, Rika. Or, if it's not a permanent thing, I mean if it can be reversed, then maybe?? I dunno, I did some pretty wild things as a youngster. Sounds like you'll love him no matter, so yall be happy now, ya hear. Right on...... |
