If It Weren't For Bad Luck...............(And A Picture.......).............Becky

  Author:  16845  Category:(Discussion) Created:(4/22/2009 11:52:00 AM)

Sometimes, I swear.  If it weren't for bad luck, we'd have no luck.

We've been on a bit of a roller coaster since AJ made his grand debut.  I was just thinking of this, now....it's crazy.  25 days ago I was in the hospital.  Since then, I've been to the pediatrician (with AJ) twice.  Been back to my OB once weekly (So three times thus far)  Been back to the hospital twice, been to urgent care once, and my general practitioner twice.  Hubby has to go in this afternoon to top it off.  Yes, count that.  Since Monday (two days ago) We've been to the doctor 5 times....and I still have to go see my OB once this week...

Can we all officially say INSANE!?

Ok, I'll explain.  AJ -- No big deal, 1 week baby check and again Monday morning. Impegito.  Some skin issue.  got cream for it, he's good to go.

ME?....

It all started tue/wen after he was born, my blood pressure sky rocketed. Well I take that back it was on the rise in the hospital but they thought it'd take care of itself.  Anyone realize you can develop Pre-eclampsia for up to six weeks post birth? I didn't.

Anyway, my highest read was 156/103.  Um yeah....

That explains hospital visit #1 and the weekly trips to the OB.

Flash forward.  Last week we all got sick, I'm the bad luck one who's STILL Sick...now enter, urgent care, general practitioner, hospital trips as of Monday night, Tuesday, and today.  Now if you had asked me Monday night how I was feeling the answer would have gone something like 'My appendix is about to burst'..............so we went to urgent care (Hoping to avoid the hospital).  They didn't have the means to test for what was going on. and suggested we go to the ER......well we decided to for-go that and play Monday night by ear.

So go into the doctor yesterday, poke, poke, prod.....yeah, might be the appendix.  go to the hospital and get some lab work done.  Ok ok doc, I'm going.  He put me on clear liquids until the test results came back, just in case I was bound for surgery.  Gave me a lab slip and I was good to go.  So I get to the hospital and realize, they printed out lab tests for me but with all of my husbands information. Not mine.  Nice.  They get it straightened out, draw blood...and I go on my merry way.

By 3pm I'm starving since I hadn't eaten all day, and nothing substantial since Sunday (Crash diet anyone?) So I'm seriously beginning to question if it's worth it as I'm feeling nearly fine stomach wise. 3:30 they FINALLY call. looks like 'something viral, and not the appendix'...Then I had to go in this morning for a follow up.

YAY copay cost just to get poked for, I kid you not less than 2 minutes.

Hubby is going in this afternoon (Hey more copay there YAY) because he's having an allergic reaction to something.  Best we can figure the new 7up....I picked some up for my clear liquid diet.  it's got some antioxidants and stuff in it. It's the only new thing he's had.  Broken out in hives all over...

So....in an effort to save some money, after all these medical expenses, we've decided to cut cable and go satellite.  The only problem is we can't get the darn thing hooked up in a stable position for it to actually work.  Any advice??

If he's a good boy he'll be released from the 'dish' this weekend (sore on his leg that was suspected ring worm, he wouldn't leave it alone) It looks healed. But we want to make sure 100% So we're making him wear it a few extra days.

Date: 4/22/2009 12:13:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16845    Akua, I think it has started to settle. I weaned off the meds a few days ago. I haven't really had a chance to keep a good log of current readings. But the few times I have taken it, it's MUCH lower and near 'normal' for me. So hopefully it'll read low when I go in tomorrow or friday. Come to think of it I should just go today since hubby didn't go to work. But anyway, hopefully I can get away from the weekly visits then

Date: 4/22/2009 5:57:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16845    Deb I know. In reality six months from now it won't matter. Unless this becomes a regular occurrence. But of course we all hope it doesn't
Date: 4/22/2009 5:59:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16845    Ginger, he's my broken satellite dish!..............And.......he kinda looks cute. Kinda! But yeah it appears to NOT be the appendix. Thankfully. Doc said my white cell count came back 'lower than normal' which points to virus. Had it been the appendix it should have been super high. Plus I'm feeling better. But he gave me signs to watch for and all that jazz.....Blah!
Date: 4/22/2009 6:00:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16845    Thanks Zema! I'm SO done with the rain. Pour, sprinkle...doesn't matter. Where's the closest desert?
Date: 4/22/2009 6:01:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16845    Bob Blues, or Country? No one would want my music. I croak like a frog. Thanks.

Thanks Posey.

Date: 4/22/2009 6:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 10245    My husband's white cell count came back low and his was just about completely rotted when they removed it. Apparently that's not all that uncommon and appendicitis is sometimes really hard to diagnose correctly. I've heard of similar stories on a few occasions. Keep on top of it and don't hesitate to go back if you keep having the same symptoms.
Date: 4/22/2009 6:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 5301    ...it sounds like you're all getting ground up pretty good there Becky. Please disregard my first reply as I thought the t was an l. I need glasses when I'm on here. I should use them.
Date: 4/22/2009 6:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 5301    ...your lamp looks like a dog. Very creative.

Date: 4/22/2009 6:16:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 16845    Merc, I didn't need to hear that! Ok, maybe I did. Thanks for the heads up. I AM feeling better though, so I'll stick with the optimistic approach that bad luck won't rear it's ugly face at me in this instance
Date: 4/22/2009 7:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 64279    Omg, your boy is so precious!
Date: 4/22/2009 8:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 14909    We've had them kinda weeks before. It'll get better. Cute baby you have
