That would be upsetting, no doubt, but she is most likely just the receptionist that makes appointments and not the surgeon. It was probably just a slip in words, hopefully. I have always thought highly of shriners because they do so much for the kids and its free. I can imagine that a lot of kids go there, there's probably a waiting list to get in. so that's probably why your reschedule was so far in the future. You and the fam are still in my thoughts. Keep us posted.  |

I wish you the greatest of luck and just wanted to say that just because it is one organization or another does not mean that it is necessarily good or bad. I too have had scheduling goof up like you have had and I have really good insurance. My advice, when appointments are made, make sure you verify with the one making the appointment what the procedure is and, if something doesn't sound right, talk to the doc about it. Don't thinkthat it's JUST Shriner's or JUST because it is charity that there was a goof up, those are universal.  |

i know of two kids that are alive today because of the shriners. one is 30 and one is 21. they wouldn't have lived past 10-12 years old without the shriners help. don't let this one thing get you aganist the shriners hospital. they really are good at what they do. to be honest they and st. judes childrens hospital are the only charities i donate to.  |

I heard in the news today that Sriners as a organization are out of money because of this economy. Lodges and business networking in the guise of brotherhoods are shrinking. My grandmother belonged to Eastern Star, After she died they couldn't bury her with the grave she had picked out with them because simeone had embezzled the money of all the membeWhite collar crime is at a all time high, you got guys faking their own deaths, killing their wifes and family and other heinous things. I know Nathan is your #1 priority and sorry that the evils of the world are causing him to suffer through lack of the care. Hope things get better, my girl.   |

it is disappointing that you had to cancel, did you see if you could be put on a cancellation list (someone else cancelled you can take thier place you can get in alot sooner that way) July is a long way away, i'm sure that there are many people waiting for appointments which is why the next opening it July they are a high demand hospital...the receptionist may not know anything about nathan's disability maybe in her computer it was written down as "hands" when it should have been "joints" How is nathan these days? you haven't made a post in awhile  |

Please don't let one incident with a receptionist colour your whole view of the Shriners, they do good work and for free, they have helped so many over the years and to negate that all with one title is misleading. I understand your child is your priority and that is bang on but again don't dis the whole organization over this.  |
