Job Interview........................ ~Rika~

As some of you know, my boyfriend and I moved to Omaha in the beginning of December. Since then, I have applied to dozens of places. One place, a pet daycare, interviewed me, but then informed me that the position was only 10 hours a week and was largely commission-based. I can't live on that, as much as I would have really enjoyed the job.

I've been beating myself up over the fact that I'm trying so hard to find work and no one seems to be interested. I even took an online course on brushing up my resume and interview skills. I know some of the reason I'm not being considered is because I have an unstable work history- I've moved around A LOT in the past two years. But, if they even gave me a chance, I could definitely explain that I wanted to travel around while I was still young, but now I am looking for long-term employment and stability so that I can go back to school. It's completely the truth.

Anyway, I came across a job posting in the newspaper and they listed a website. The position was listed as "Customer Service Specialist" in a large call center. After researching a little bit about the company ( a human resources business that provides customer/employee relations programs for big corporations), I filled out their online career profile. After I was finished, they gave me a code and a phone number to call for a telephone interview which caught me kind of by surprise. I called and spoke with a gentlemen who asked me some standard interview questions ("Tell me about yourself," "Why would you like to work for this company?" ) Good thing I read up on them, lol. Luckily, he responded favorably to my answers and offered me a face-to-face interview. Yay!

So, I have my foot in the door at last. I have to wake up early in the morning tomorrow and I'm very nervous ( interviews are hell for me ), but I may have FINALLY found work.

Wish me luck, I'm going to need it for sure!

Date: 1/15/2009 1:37:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 35720    Well, it went great as far as impressions.. the lady said she was interested in hiring me.. BUT she said that it would have to wait until the next training class and she couldn't tell me when that would be. Luckily, another one of the jobs I applied to called me for an interview tomorrow AND Cameron has an interview tomorrow as well, so hopefully that goes well. =) Thanks for everyone's thoughts. <3
