Have you tried tylenol, or some other type of pain medicene? Or maybe a heating pad?....Now I got a funny story that happened 3 weeks ago....My co-worker was complaining her back was hurting her, in her kidney area, and she couldn't figure out what was bothering her. So she went to the doctors, and imagined her shock when the doctor told her she was 1 month pregnent. |

Not a doctor but, is it possible that it is a kidney infection? |

Oh, aleve is like naproxen it will reduce the swelling if, it's actually back pain and not a kidney infection. |

It does sound like a kidney/or urinary tract infection. This is something you really do need to discuss with a doctor. It could be anything from a pulled muscle, to a ruptured disk. |

I done this once and it was a pulled muscle. You still should have it checked out though. |

Ice is the wrong thing to put on a back sprain/herniated disc. Use heat. If you can't get your hands on a heating pad or a box of therma care heat wraps, use a hand towel, just wet it completely, wring out all the water then put it in the microwave for about 30 to 45 seconds, it will be extremely HOT so have another towel to wrap it in and put it on your back. Heat is the best thing, it keeps the muscles loose so that you can move. I have degenerative disc disease in my back and have ruptured 2 discs and had one bulging, sounds to me like you may have really messed up a disc in your back. If that is the case, lying flat on your back is a bad thing, but sitting up too straight is bad too, just trying to find a happy medium where you don't hurt and move around as much as you can. Hope you get to feeling better! |

Go see a doctor.
As for not having a heating pad. Do you have rice? Or even some sand? You can heat those up on the microwave, and put them in a bag. I find those options hold heat longer than a warm washcloth. |

Ibuprofin or motrin will reduce swelling and inflamation. You can do the heat and ice therapy as well. Right now it is prolly a strained muscle but it could be worse. A pinched nerve or sciatic nerve will make it nearley impossible to walk or even bend. Also sitting in a recliner in a reclined position may help out. If you have to sleep on your back tonight then elevate your feet up by two pillows. If on your side then two pillows between your knees. Drink water not caffinated drinks as these will agitate any swelling. If you continue to hurt after a couple of days then you need to seek medical help. Good Luck and I hope ya feel better |

I have posted this before that I broke my back in the last part of August and did further damage on September 5 .I have Osteoporosis and I broke 4 discs. My Dr. said that it will take anywhere from 6 months to a year to heal. The pain was terrible ...so I know what you mean about how it hurts you. You should probably go to the Dr. and get an xray...I hope it is not anything too serious...but best not to take chances. |
