Many undiscovered human remains lurk just under the surface in Germany. Scientists are starting a concerted effort to dig them up and study the execution sites. I think these sites would be great for ghost hunting. During the medieval period many innocent souls lost their lives here as this was a dangerous place to live. One might be accused of being a witch or being in league with the devil, or maybe unable to pay a tax for passing through some Knights forest.
This is a collection of photos with captions and as side note to this post, I might mention that during the 30 war in Germany almost three quarters of the male poplation were killed, and I am told it was the common practice to leave the bodies for the scavengers just as they did to criminals at the gallows.
