Angi, there were a lot of technicalities they went through as to why they couldn't pay for our damages.. we were making a left turn when the guy slammed into us, so technically it was our fault according to Progressive.. even though the other guy was doing 30 in a parking lot which is definitely not legal.  |

That's not good Rika, I hope you feel better soon. Seatbelts aren't always as effective as they make you think, I was t-boned by a drunk driver a few years ago and i was wearing my seatbelt and ended up fracturing my neck from the seatbelt not to mention the bruises from it and there were even places the seatbelt dug so hard into me that it cut my skin, but that just might be because I was almost tipped over by the impact though. It'll take a few days if not about a week or so before the pain gets better so hopefully the time will go by quickly until then! But yes, I still always wear my seatbelt no matter what, even if I'm just moving my car over a parking space.  |

I am sorry you are going through all that. I would see if you could get a consultation with an attorney just to see what your rights & if you are really at fault..some insurance companies will try & get over on you, espically if you don't know the laws...might be worth checking into. I have a slipped disc in my neck from a car accident in 95. I didn't discover it until years later. I could not lay on my left side longer than 5 minutes.. never knowing it was from the accident until they did an MRI on me... check all of your options.... I am praying for you!  |

when you do wear your seatbelt please be sure to always make sure it is lying flat. If it is twisted at all it can work like a razor blade and slice you.  |

Wow, I truly am sorry to have to hear this. I definitely know how you feel as I was in 2 car accidents within a week of each other (neither were my fault). This was last year. I really hope you can work out everything. It sucks losing your car. And it sucks having an insurance company that doesn't give a crap about you on top of that. I don't care what any commercial says, all Insurance companies are no good. Another blunder by idiot drivers out there that can't seem to put a simple concept in their head and determining speed, conditions, and location. Of course, for some people that might be a hard concept to pull through their head...but it's simple really...You're in a parking lot...do you go slow...or do you go fast and plow into someone in the process...it's a pretty easy decision. You're on a major road...everyone else is going slow...it's raining pretty hard...either decide to go fast, wreck and take down a few cars (and lives) with you...or go BELOW the posted limits due to the conditions. Pick the first option and see if I feel a bit sorry for you when your car flips over into oblivion. I'm terribly sorry, Rika. This is just something that all too common happens in America...people think they are so important that they are entitled to drive faster than everyone else. Blessings in recovering from what this idiot done to you and your car.  |

Definately get yourself into the habit of wearing a seatbelt! Once you do, you'll feel naked without it! I do anyways. Will the other person's insurance get you anywhere? I am surprised they didn't have to pay your med bills. I am terribly sorry to hear you were in an accident at all!! I am not surprised you're in a lot of pain, you're poor body must be reeling! Thank you so much everyone for your get-well wishes. I'm feeling better today.. I'm in the most pain right when I wake up and then it gets duller as the day goes on. FreckleFace, the insurance company did pay my medical bill, but not the damages to my car. Joy and Sorrow, I don't know why it's at the top. Probably because the admin wanted me to feel like I'm cared about. |

same thing prompted me to start wearing a seat belt. an uncountable number of stitches, stopping just short of your face, can make you thankful that's the extent of the injury and nudges you to stop tempting fate so much ;o) Glad you're going to be okay. Cars can be replaced, YOU can't ;o)  |

Sounds like you should really go see a chiropractor! Trust me, if you see that kind of doctor, you are bound to find more problems that will need to be treated! That's what they specialize in. When I was in a small car accident when I was 13 and my mom was bringing me to school, I didn't have any pain and didn't think anything was wrong with me but my mom brought us and I wound up treating with him for several months! I'm telling, please, just go get checked by one! Also, as far as the insurance.... what about the other persons insurance? You shouldn't be having YOUR insurance pay for this, his insurance should be paying for this! Do you get a police report? Have you sought counsel to file a lawsuit? If you need any advice in this area, please, please let me know because I work for a personal injury attorney and handle MANY automobile accidents! Please let me know if I can be of any help! And I hope you get to feeling better!  |
