Hey USMers!

Do you drink 8 oz glasses a day like you're suppose to? I never really drink water, so I figured I'd start drinking 8 glasses a day....HA! who am I kidding?! Throughout the day, I had like 4 glasses and I felt like I was gonna explode! LoL So I don't know...I think I'll try to drink 4-5 and then slowly work my way up to 8.

I totally bow down to those who can drink those 8 glasses...and very impressed with those who drink like a gallon LoL

Anyways, how much water do you drink a day?

Date: 10/10/2008 2:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    The key is bigger glasses I drink from no less than a 24 oz glass. I Don't know but for ME it seems more appealing to drink 3 of those a day as opposed to...8 8oz....and I don't chug either. I 'Strive' for 96 oz a day...somedays I don't make it though.
Date: 10/10/2008 2:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 61966    I drink about 32 oz a day, thats 2 bottles of water which equals 4, 8 oz glasses a day. I highly doubt I could drink much more water than that! I do know you get water from food too, but probably not a lot.
Date: 10/10/2008 2:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    There's a nice mathematical method to how much water one needs. At a minimum it's suppose to be 64oz....but really take your weight and divide by two. That's how many is ideal.
Date: 10/10/2008 2:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 61966    Geeze, I'd need to lose a lot of weight to drink less water! lol.
Date: 10/10/2008 2:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    Ok, out of curiosity I just measured my glasses cause I was curious, it's actually 32oz...and I drink 3+ a day, so I'm doing better than I thought....(and for the record, yes, I'm in the bathroom, a lot LOL)
Date: 10/10/2008 2:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 13546    I do drink 8 glasses a day. Sometimes more depending on what I am doing during the course of the day!
Date: 10/10/2008 3:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 53284    I'm working on my second 44 oz cup of water for the day. I usually have one in the morning and one if the afternoon. Then I spend the evening in the bathroom.
Date: 10/10/2008 3:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 63366    Water, coffee, soda and other beverages count you know. The human body needs between 6-10 8ozs of fluid depending on size and conditions. Like people in the dessert need more than lets say a person in an AC building.
Date: 10/10/2008 4:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 62100    Ever since I've been pregnant I have been drinking it like it's going out of style, I drink anywhere from (4-6) 16 oz glasses a night at work, (4) 16 oz bottles or so a night at home..
Date: 10/10/2008 4:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 33401    I use to but it was tough!!!!
Date: 10/10/2008 4:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 57079    Just get big water bottles and carry it around with you EVERYWHERE, it really helps, cause you end up drinking a lot of it when your bored and stuff.
Date: 10/10/2008 4:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 49689    you don't have to drink anymore water than your body puts out
Date: 10/10/2008 4:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 49689    and another note..to much water will kill you!
Date: 10/10/2008 5:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 21903    I try, but I usually don't make it past 40 oz of water in a day. I think I've had all of 8 oz of water today. Generally speaking, I don't drinkg 64 ounces of ANYTHING in a day. Maybe thats why my lips are dry right now! lol.
Date: 10/10/2008 5:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 16845    Py's right. But it does take a very large amount (though it varies) of water in a short amount of time. Example is one woman in a radio contest (2007?) died from water intoxication....but she drank about 2 gallons in a short period of time. Too much, too fast...throws the body off, electrolytes and such...
Date: 10/10/2008 5:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    I fill a 2litre cordial bottle of water and leave it on the kitchen sink each day....I strive to drink that daily, most times I do but there are days I don't. I know that I do drink enough plain water daily. I have about 3 cups of tea as well daily...I believe that water is more important to our bodies than say drinking tea, coffee, soda all day, we still need water..
Date: 10/10/2008 6:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 16865    I drink about 6-8 glasses of water and about 6 cups of coffee... plus a Dr Pepper if I am on the boat... it helps with nauseousness.
Date: 10/10/2008 9:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 35720    I drink far more than 64 ounces of water a day.. and a lot of tea, too.
Date: 10/10/2008 10:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 63194    I don't know... I drink way more than 120 + OZ a day... I just can't get enough. But I pee alot. hehe. I usually start by drinking a lot of tea in the morning, then I drink a ton of water throughout the afternoon and at work in the evenings.
Date: 10/11/2008 12:36:00 AM  From Authorid: 27215    I have never really thought of measuring how much that I drink a day but I do know that it is ALOT. I have something to drink by myside all of the time. I don't really like plain water so I always put lemon juice in it and yes I do go through ALOT of lemon juice too............
Date: 10/11/2008 2:05:00 AM  From Authorid: 59418    I hardly drink any water, I suppose I really should drink more!
Date: 10/11/2008 3:01:00 AM  From Authorid: 11176    First of all i barely drink water, i just don't trust tap water around here, and second of all there is a such a thing as drinking to much all together, it can wash your eletrilites(nutrients)all out of your systems, as well any medications you may be taking for any prolonged medical conditions.
Date: 10/11/2008 7:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 35160    you dont need to drink 8 glasses of water a day. you get much of the needed water from the food you eat. so whatever amount you do drink is fine.
Date: 10/11/2008 12:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 17014    It's been studied that we already get a majority of the water that we need from the other things we drink and eat so I drink water when I'm thirsty. I don't push it and try to drink that much in a day.
Date: 10/11/2008 12:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 28848    I dont drink any usually, but dont forget that the other liquids that you are taking in count towards that amount. So you really dont need to drink an additional 8 glasses of water per day. Liquids are milk, juices, soda, soup, popcicles, or anything like that.
Date: 10/11/2008 12:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 33286    you know, you can drink herbal tea and it counts as water
Date: 10/11/2008 12:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 33286    but coffee and regular tea don't count... anything with caffeine really as it is a diuretic.
Date: 10/11/2008 6:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 63241    Reader's Digest had an article about that some years ago. They said in addition to the 8-8oz glasses of water you normally should drink, you should drink an additional glass of water for every 20 lbs. of weight you want to lose. In other words, if you want to lose 40 lbs of weight, drink 10-8oz. glasses of water a day. At first, you will go to the bathroom alot, but your bladder will adjust after a week or two. After that you don't go to the bathroom so often, but when you do, it takes a long time to empty. My mom lost over 60 lbs in about 18 months doing this. Some people squeeze a little lemon juice in the water, and some people just drink it cold. You'll find after drinking this, you don't have much of a taste for anything else...no more sodas or tea. It's really a good thing to do for weight loss and it doesn't cost as much as Jenny Craig or Nutri System.
