We evacuated early friday morning to north houston and then again yesterday to my parent's house in Tyler. Got my mother-in-law and all three cats with us. BAsically made it out with the clothes on our backs, don't know the status of our home or neighborhood. My job at UTMB is on indefinite hold, they will be without power for 2-4 weeks. Up to a month before we can return to the island.

I am devastated but grateful that we got out in time and that we are all ok. have talked to most of my Galveston friends and coworkers and so far everyone is ok. Please keep South Texas and Galveston in your prayers.

Date: 9/19/2008 11:49:00 AM  From Authorid: 10722    I live in the Omega Bay, across highway 6 from Bayou Vista.. we got around 4ft of water in our garage and everything was trashed, but luckily everything on the top floor made it intact. We evacuated to Lafayette, Louisiana to stay with family. From what I heard we are still without power and it could be up to 1-3 months before we get our water back on. I guess we will be displaced for quite some time.
Date: 11/27/2008 7:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 21435    Happy to hear that you made it intact, Katlillie. Sandra and I stayed. Pretty scary stuff. Don't think I'll be doing that, again. Take care of you.
