Personally..i think you're taking on too much for your sorority..and while it's important to stay involved..you also said you are dependent upon your job..and ultimately it comes down to which one you *need* most in your life..a job to support yourself..or involvement in a sorority..which looks good on paper as an activity, but ultimately..which is going to mean more in your future?? Working hard and having good references employment wise..or being so active in your sorority that you lost your employment?? |

Not trying to sound harsh..but take it from me..I've been there..it's nice to be involved and hang with your friends..but ultimately, the job is more important..if I called in for every birthday or event that everyone wanted me at I'd never work...don't get me wrong..we *all* do it in moderation..but you can't let things like that come before your job... |

sounds to me like you let people walk over you. i used to have that same problem. i would give and give and then when i needed something everybody had other plans. it doesn't really sound petty. it sounds like you've had enough and don't know exactly how to put a stop to it. since i'm not there i can't really say what you should do but i can say what i did. i started out by saying NO. start asking yourself when somebody wants a favor if that same person would do the same for you. it's not how many friends you have it's how good a friend someone is. i would rather have one or two really good friends over 15 or 20 so so friends. about the sleeping all the time....i've never been there either but my best friend of 25+ years went through it a few years ago. she just had to make herself get up and do something. anything at all to keep herself from staying in bed. sometimes she just called me at work and told me to talk to her about something that would not bore her to sleep!! OMG! does this even make sense? |

How much longer do you have left in school? Maybe you can move to a dorm if thats cheaper. I hope it all works out. |

Yeah, what Xylanthis said. My own birthday was just yesterday- but did I call in? No. The job is more important. I worked the night before my birthday AND last night. It's a part of life that you just have to deal with. You won't always get your way and when you call in to work that deems you not very dependable. |

The dorms on our campus are acutally more expensive because they require you to buy an expensive meal ticket that I never have time to use because of classes and work. I started training tonight at my new job and I am starting out making $7 an hour. Although we only get paid every 2 weeks so I don't know what I am going to do about money until those 2 weeks because bills are due in like a week and half...Something will work out I suppose. I'm really trying not to stress over it right now. I am tired of stressing. |
