Hey everyone. I was watching Animal Planet this morning when I saw a story on this inspirational dog.
His nickname is Wheely Willy because of his wheelchair. Willy was among the many homeless pets in the world when he was found on the side of the road. He was discarded in a cardboard box. His back legs were paralyzed from abuse. His vocal chords were cut. The woman who rescued him struggled to make him mobile before discovering K9 carts, which are wheelchairs for dogs.

Willy travels to hospitals to visit sick children and teach them about disabilities. He has even traveled around the world to Japan and a few other countries. According to the article I read, he is now about seventeen years old. His owner wrote a children's book about him called, "How Willy Got His Wheels." She reads the book to the children she visits with Willy.
I think he is such a cute little dog. It is a shame he was treated so badly earlier in his life. At least he has a great life now. His website is www.wheelywilly.com for anyone interested in getting more information on him.
