Date: 7/17/2008 6:01:00 PM From Authorid: 64497 I agree 100%. I don't think illegal immigrants should have any rights at all. I also think we shouldn't have anchor babies anymore. |
Date: 7/17/2008 6:41:00 PM From Authorid: 14909 I total agree with you 1000%. Yes I actually meant a thousand. We have the same problem here. We live on the Ohio and Indiana border. The Ohio side that I live on the police have done a great job keeping the illegals out of the Ohio side of town. Now on the Indiana side the cops are powerless. The state told the police to leave them alone. In closing all I can say is to write your Representatives annd remind them that we have the power to take them out of office at the polls. So far that is. |
Date: 7/17/2008 7:12:00 PM From Authorid: 63241 You started it! I have a friend who works at Wal-Mart. She said it's disgusting the number of non-English speaking people on Taniff, (welfare) who will buy a pack of gum, get $99.00 in change and then buy cases of beer with this money. My daughter went into the health department to get vaccinations for my 1-year old granddaughter. There were only two other people ahead of her on the waiting list. As she sat there, four groups of non-english speaking people (with no less than five children in each group) came in the waiting room. My daughter waited almost four hours...AFTER these groups had been taken care of and left. Whenever she would ask the receptionist why she was still waiting when she was there BEFORE these people she kept being told, "You're next." When she was finally called, the nurse giving the vaccinations hardly spoke English also. My daughter told her, "I know you were only calling in here the ones who had names similar to your own!" The nurse acted like she didn't understand and avoided eye contact. My brother is a carpenter, currently out of work. Not only is the current housing drop affected his employment but the only job interview he's been on the employer wanted him to accept $7.50 an hour (with him being single & no children-Income Tax would take most of that...also the gas to get to this long distance jobsite). A friend of my bro's who was working there told my brother that the employer has many non-English speaking employees making below this amount and he thinks they're being paid under the table. And hopefully, you're never in a car accident with a non-English speaking person. How they manage to get car tags without proof of insurance is anybody's guess but none of them have any insurance. YES I AGREE 100%. |

Amen Woodelf. Sometimes I wished I spoke Spanish because not just being paranoid I am certain they are pulling what your sister expierenced. Its like "ooo little white girl why is she here? We'll make her last!" Id rather not get treated at all then be treated by someone whos gonna treat me like crap. Shortmuffin thats the saddest part about America right now: our apathy towards EVERYTHING. We could do a lot. We vote, we pick the people who represent and vote for us (electoral college), we can make noise. When people say protesting doesnt work I cite the Civil Rights Movement. There is plenty we could do if we only tried |
Date: 7/18/2008 5:55:00 AM From Authorid: 2030 So true. A year ago my son had a bike accident, unfortunately at around 5 on a Friday. We sat in the waiting room for an hour and a half with me holding paper towels on his bleeding elbow and shoulder while illegals and others all with babies or small children (all routine problems) were let in ahead of us. Why? #1. If you show up before 5 on a Friday you are refered to a local clinic for routine matters, however you have to pay. #2. After 5 the hospital has to treat them no matter what the problem and they do not have to pay. #3. Children under 2 get preference no matter what the severity of their problem. Final result: My son had bad road rash, a cut that took 9 stiches and a cracked bone in his elbow. And I'm sure I was the only one who actually paid my bill. |
Date: 7/18/2008 7:00:00 AM From Authorid: 13119 Why would you delete my response? Is it because I dared to disagree with you? |
Date: 7/18/2008 8:22:00 AM From Authorid: 53284 I think that it's time for immigration reform. Post 911, I don't think that there is any reason that services should be provided to anyone who is in this country illegally. If you're in an accident, and you're here illegally, you should be deported and your country of origin should have to pay your medical bill. Any business that employees people that are in this country illegally should be fined so heavily that they wouldn't want to do it and the people that hire illegals should face jail time. If you're not in this county legally, you shouldn't be able to buy or rent a house. Now, I'm not against immigration. We are a country that was built on immigration. I just think that all immigration should be legal. Also, if you immigrate to the US , you should have to pay car insurance and medical insurance. That way you wouldn't be a burden on society. You should also have to learn English in three years or less or you'd have to leave. If you can't speak the language of the country you live in then you can't fully participate in that country's affairs. |
Date: 7/18/2008 8:24:00 AM From Authorid: 53284 This is a situation that has been created by both Democrats and Republicans over the last 50 years. It needs to be fixed. It's time that the politicians learn that they have to respect the voters. |
Date: 7/18/2008 9:00:00 AM From Authorid: 13119 so what would you do with all those that are already in America? Would you throw them all out or give a blanket approval? How would you rectify the situation? |
Date: 7/18/2008 9:46:00 AM From Authorid: 53284 I would make all those who have come to the US illegally apply for citizenship. I would give them a very limited window of time to apply. Then they should be evaluated to see if they can immigrate here. If they don't meet the standards for immigration, they would have to return to their country of origin. I don't think that they should get any advantage over people who are trying to immigrate here legally so they should be at the end of the line after all the legal applicants. |

No Magoo its because someone deleted my reply to you, and if they arent going to let me respond then why have it there? I disagreed with you and thats all I will say since its been deleted once, you have a very weird spin on the situation. As for 'do' with them send em home while at the same time implementing policies to give CITIZENS BENEFITS. Would they even wanna be here if they had free healthcare, a chance at jobs, and a chance at citizenship? We whine its so hard but thats just part of the apathy I mentioned earlier. What I guess my overall point with this story was that I, a citizen, would have to wait hours for medical care because 1) we treat non citizens and 2) because we dont have any benefits towards citizens. Its not JUST the illegals Im mad at there. And WildBob seriously why would they wanna be citizens? I think they've got it made already! |
Date: 7/18/2008 9:12:00 PM From Authorid: 4995 Yeah, mine got deleted too. But I STILL stand by whatI wrote before. Period. |
Date: 7/18/2008 9:21:00 PM From Authorid: 13119 What did you write CP? Seems kinda weird KAJA that you deleted my response but it wasn't an admin, maybe you were out of hand not me. And as for you as a citizen you yourself have said that you don't follow doctor's advise anyway. To judge these people just because they were speaking Spanish is bigoted. |

No I wasnt out of hand, I said your conclusion was crazy and I stand by it, even further so after your last statement. Quote: "To judge these people just because they were speaking Spanish is bigoted." I made one judgement off of that: that they were Latinos, from where who knows but we do have a lot from Mexico in this area. The rest of my judgements (having to wait, their judgement of me) comes off my observations of their and the hospitals actions in the past and present, not off there speaking a language. They were glaring at me, and btw when I say 'spoke English' I wasnt complaining at the time (just checking in, thats all), so their glaring had nothing to do with any quote 'judgement'. As for the illegals 'judgement' that comes from the hospital itself, healthcare statistics, and other prolonged expierences at that hospital. Ask any of the staff or health department about the issue; they'll tell you just what I did. Has nothing to do with the language. And as for quote 'not following my doctors advice' thats a whole bull assessment itself, but I dont feel like going into my medical history with you. I was actually FOLLOWING my doctor's advice...or at least attempting to. No one made me, but I was trying despite how I knew it would turn out. And it did. And a final note: thanks to these illegals I dont have a 'doctor'...I was seen in the ER, once briefly after my surgery, and that was it. To this day I dont even know the liklihood of my concieving children based off the operation; and I was in that hospital 3 days!!!!!!!! |
Date: 7/19/2008 9:50:00 AM From Authorid: 13119 I have read all your poor me posts concerning your health and how your family wouldn't drop everything to fly out and see you and how your gramma was evil and didn't send you what you wanted. You call it a crappy hospital and your prejudice came through loud and clear in your post. How dare they speak their native language to one another while waiting for service, how rude of them. BS. We have immigrants too and alot speak their native language, we also have a ton of illegals but we don't think that they should all suffer, |
Date: 7/19/2008 10:39:00 AM From Authorid: 10245 No one here wants them to suffer either, Magoo... BUT it's insane when tax paying citizens CAN'T get medical care that's given freely to those who have not "paid their dues", so to speak, or even bothered to go through the proper channels to arrive here. I can't even arrange for a payment plan.. no cash for services? No services....unless I wait for an all out emergency. And since your medical expenses are covered along with the illegals (and legals) I'm sure you don't really have a way of relating to this particular experience. American and Canadian health care are worlds apart.... and there are plenty of American's down right pissed off about this double standard; Kaja's not alone in her indignation. |
Date: 7/19/2008 10:47:00 AM From Authorid: 10245 and the big kicker, Magoo? I PAY MY TAXES SO THEY CAN HAVE MEDICAL CARE, while denying me of that same right. |
Date: 7/20/2008 8:56:00 AM From Authorid: 13119 I understand what you are saying Mercury and I actually feel for you but I can't feel sorry for someone who shows such racism to people who know another language, she doesn't know if they are all illegals. If she had done this post without the belittling nature or the vileness toward another group of people, fine I would feel that way with her as well but she didn't. |
Date: 8/6/2008 9:12:00 PM From Authorid: 47218 How were these people being bent over backwards to? Seems like they were stuck in line waiting behind 75 other people just like you. And just how do you know that they weren't- like yourself- legal residents on low wages who were stuck waiting long hours at a community clinic because they are unable to afford insurance? You've made a large jump in conclusion there. And- though I can totally empathize with your difficulties with obtaining and paying for healthcare- just what do these people in the waiting room have to do with how you were treated in the hospital months ago, anyhow? Seems like there's a whole line of people in authority- nurses, hospital staff, doctors, politicians in Washington, the boards of multimillion dollar medical companies, who determine your treatment and have the power to implement change, and yet you've directed your anger at a group of people who did not participate in your treatment and were not even present in the hospital that day and- afterall- are just powerless schlobs, like yourself, scraping by on measly wages, trying to feed their families and survive. This is called scapegoating. |
