paying off bills is what does it and paying all your bills on time(very important!) and not just making the minimums.. |

Paying your bills on time does help a lot, but it won't do the trick entirely. You need something that will be reported every month to the credit beaurau (spelling?) that shows you are a responsible borrower. Like a credit card payment or an auto loan payment. I'm not saying you should go out and apply for a bunch of credit.. that is actually not a good thing because everytime someone looks at your credit report it shows up that it's been looked at (it will say # of inquiries) and the more inquiries from credit card companies, etc.. the worse it looks (it makes it look like you're really desperate for credit). Is there the possibility of a co-signer? A parent, relative, or good friend with reasonable credit? Usually they allow co-signers on apartment leases. |

Thanks everyone.. yeah, it's super hard to find a place that accepts Pit Bulls.. especially since they're considering passing a ban here.. sigh.. I guess I have no choice but to use some of the little money I have saved up to pay off a lot of the money I owe. |

Nicole, we asked about a co-signer and they said they don't do that.. I feel like a big burden on everyone because it's like.. not only do we have a dog.. but she's a Pit Bull.. AND we have horrible credit. |

It takes time to get your credit score up. The only thing I can suggest is to try to find a place that doesn't care about credit..or be honest with them, telling them its not so good but show them a reference that you've been paying rent before. I really hope you can find something, Rika. Good luck. |

renting a small house from an individual would probably be easier than getting approved for an apartment. look in your local classified ads. |

start with your smallest bills first. Once you get those gone, you can start whittling away at the larger ones and it won't seem so overwhelming. |

I agree with Kelly. That really is the only way to do it, Rika. Oh, and don't make any new bills, either. Take care of you, my friend. |

I think that you basically know what to do. You just have to remember to believe in yourself, and that you can do anything you want to do in life as long as you keep at it and don't give up. It sounds lame, but it's true. |

Do you have an Apartment Locaters in your area? IF so, let them do the legwork for you, or maybe you could try renting a house rather than an apartment. |
