My boyfriend and I both have "stretched ears".. I'm sure most of you know what that means, but for those of you who don't.. you start out with a normal sized ear piercing and use a taper to gradually increase the size of the hole. The holes in my ears are now a half an inch in diameter and his are a full inch. Yes, I know.. "gross," but we like it. =P

Anyway, we were at the craft store today, because I'm starting a scrapbook and we came across the clay aisle. He said it'd be cool to make plugs [earrings for larger holes, basically] out of Fimo or Sculpey clay. So we bought some in various colors.

Mine just got finished and I love them! I'm proud that I sculpted them just the right size.. they look really good, too. I got the glittery finish. I took a picture of one of the pairs I made. It doesn't do it justice.. it's much brighter and more glittery in person. It was also a lot cheaper to make them, since the packs of clay were 3 for $5. Plugs don't run cheap.. I usually get a set for at least $25.. and the ones I made are way cooler and more attractive than any I've bought in a store or online. Anyway, here's the picture.

And here's an adorable picture I just took of my dog.. couldn't pass up that photo-op.

Date: 4/24/2008 10:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 10773    That's a cool idea. If my friend still wore plugs or tunnels or whathaveyou in his ears, I'd suggest this idea to him. Have fun with your new hobby, Rika!
Date: 4/24/2008 10:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 36704    Sell them, make a business out of your hobby.

Date: 4/25/2008 12:06:00 AM  From Authorid: 64279    That's a really cool idea. I know plugs and earring for different kinds of piercings can get so expensive. At least you get a set for $25, I just get one for my lip for about $20. Sometimes it's really ridiculous!

Date: 4/25/2008 1:02:00 AM  From Authorid: 63961    That's awesome, maybe you should start selling them? You could make a good profit.
Date: 4/25/2008 4:57:00 AM  From Authorid: 36901    I usually think stretched ears look horrible, but or some reason it looks great on you. I've noticed that you can pull off a lot of things that most people can't. I still think it's a bit odd, but if you like it good for you. I haven't gotten past my nose piercing yet, but I eventually want my eyebrow done. Base has a good idea. You could sell them on Ebay or something.
Date: 4/25/2008 5:16:00 AM  From Authorid: 3901    Awesome idea Rika! I used to have my ears stretched to half an inch too.. the smallest I could get them to shrink back to is somewhere in between 2-4 gauge. 2 is a little tight and 4 is a little loose.. I'm currently wearing 4's.. wanna make me and inbetween pair? haha
Date: 4/25/2008 8:03:00 AM  From Authorid: 21764    WOW! They look great! Very unique! And I just LOVE the picture of your doggie! So stinkin CUTE!!!!!!! And once again.. may I mention how beautiful you are?! *hugs*
Date: 4/25/2008 10:24:00 AM  From Authorid: 820    I always thought that was so cool, it looks really nice on you. I like the do-it-yourself plugs, I never thought of that. My husband used to stretch his ears when we first got married.. plugs (or any body jewelry) are not cheap!
Date: 4/25/2008 12:34:00 PM  From Authorid: 62100    Looks good Rika!!
