Need birthday party advice

So my bday is coming up soon. T be exact. So thats major right? Well..Im fearing it will be a dud.

EVERY YEAR...every 'milestone bday' has flopped big time. Mainly because no one I know seems to care enough to even put forward a mild effort (such as show up to a party or dinner) for me. Heck I barely even get gifts from people let alone telephone calls or cards!!!

Every time I try to plan something I want my friends involved but it usually falls through. One year I had several people I thought would like to join me at a club for a drink but every one of them
I know it sounds poor me poor me and I know ya'll probably have it worse. But I like to think when Im old and gray I could have one fond memory of something along these lines. Not saying gobs of money or planning have to occur just ya know...some friends around doing something I enjoy.

But this year Im really well...screwed with the matter. I moved. And we are all quite literally poor as dirt so flying around isnt an option.

I thought about flying back home for a few days but only one friend remains there and the costs of doing it (about $600) were just too much. I made my two best friends an offer that Id pay $100 towards a ticket for them (this would roughly be about 40%-50% of the total price) as its all I can afford. They havent responded back yet (I just did it LOL) but I want to plan for the worst as getting my hopes up is way worse then planning for the likeliest outcome.

I live in a really great area with a million things to do but really around my bday theres only one thing that may remotely interest me. I dont know a lot of people here yet so I really cant say I have any 'friends'. I have a few people around but heck there busy NOW let alone then; besides Id feel a little funny asking one of them to come round and kinda confirm my looserhood if it was just me and one of them (again like I said these people are all new to me; so they dont know me well yet or vice versa).

So in all liklihood Im gonna end up alone. Again.

Take drinking out of it I still cant think of anything remotely interesting to do. I have this probably daily let alone on a special day LOL! I hate eating in a sit down resteraunt alone (I've done enough of it thanks), shopping is dull (what am I shopping for?), and going to the beach or walking around the tourist areas is so 'any weekend'.

So any suggestions? I know Im totally pathetic and poor me sounding so forgive me. I will live Im sure of it. But Id welcome any relief to this problem grrg. Thanks!

Date: 4/11/2008 12:42:00 AM  From Authorid: 64593    Hmmm. I have no clue what you could do. Did you say you don't have family near you? For my 21 last month, I went ice skating with my family and then they and 2 friends all met up at my mom's later while my mom and I finished cooking a delicious italian dinner. We sat around, ate, I made drinks, watched 30 Days of Night. It was a very relaxing day. Maybe you could grab a co worker or something and have lunch and watch movies?? I am sorry. I just have no clu.e
Date: 4/11/2008 1:17:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15675    Thanks! No no family here...and trust me thats for the better. On my 18th against my will I was made to go to dinner with them and they said theyd do anything I wanted. I wanted to eat Indian food and go to the mall. Needless to say all they did was complain until the day was over...
Date: 4/11/2008 1:31:00 AM  From Authorid: 64593    Awww that's sad and really unfair. That would make me angry beyond belief. Actually it did make me angry when someone complained about stuff on my birthday. I wanted to umm remove someone's head from their body. Nicely put Lol
Date: 4/11/2008 1:32:00 AM  From Authorid: 64593    I hope whatever you do you have a wonderful birthday!
Date: 4/11/2008 1:34:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15675    LOL! Well thats how all my bdays have gone so far. When it was my family they were so white trash anything beyond BK or pizza was too much. Funnily enough they wonder why I dont wanna visit them anymore LOL! My friends try to be nice and not complain but if I do something purely because I like it they grin and bare it...I guess its because I dont like the booty shaking clubs (rap music is a word untypeable on USM...)

However that cant fully be a good reason; as I've endured many a boring booty club for them on their bdays. Its just boring to do everything yourself ya know?

Date: 4/11/2008 1:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 998    OK, I have a GREAT solution for this problem. We are gonna have a 'Day Before Kaja's B-Day Celebration'. Kaja, you put up a post starting your PARTY .. only do it the day before your Birthday. We will all come celebrate and just in general, fool around at your fun party. If that doesn't cheer you up just a tiny bit .. then I don't know what will .. LOL. Oh, did I mention that you HAVE to come tell me which postie it is ... so I can move it close to the top for our Kaja Birthday !!! :-)
Date: 4/11/2008 1:35:00 AM  From Authorid: 998    And did I happen to mention ... that you need a funner class of friends :-P~~~. Come have fun with us .. especially on Saturday nights in chat !!!
Date: 4/11/2008 1:38:00 AM  From Authorid: 64593    That sounds wonderful Ginger. I'd never have thought of that. Wtdya think?
Date: 4/11/2008 3:56:00 AM  From Authorid: 27826    Aww. Kaja.Im sorry to hear this. Wish I could celebrate with ya on your birthday...but we can have fun like Ginger said by havin a bday party postie!
Date: 4/11/2008 4:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 52746    I wish I knew what to suggest. This is the kind of thing that would happen to me: many people agree then one by one drop out. I'd be highly tempted to say you're having a party for someone else (make sure they're in on it), then when they arrive, tell them it was really for you. Bit sneaky though.
Date: 4/11/2008 4:18:00 AM  From Authorid: 62983    You know, for my bdays when I was home, I liked to go to 3rd Street and wander around the book stores until I found a good book to read. Then I'd go down to the beach and sip on a Sam Adams while reading my book and waiting for the sunset. I found it much easier to take pleasure in doing something I enjoyed with out all the hassle of other people around to upset me with their complaints. It may sound lame to some people, but with out the expectations that *I* would place on others I had a much better experience. If I didn't have fun, then it was only my fault for not finding something to do that I enjoyed. Go do something that YOU enjoy and take pleasure in it.
Date: 4/11/2008 5:13:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15675    Thanks guys. Ginger I'll do that . I agree I need funner friends...not sure where I'll find them though LOL! Wandering Gurl my only objection to a day like that is well...I live every day like that. Day in and day out Im the only person I see. I do what I want, eat where/what I want, and go where I want. So...doing it on my bday...alone...will be no different than tomorrow (literally!) LOL AO give me some time alone at the bar...I may end up where you were LOL!
Date: 4/11/2008 5:17:00 AM  From Authorid: 63725    I hope you follow Ginger's suggestion-we love to party at USM!!! And we will have any kind of food you want. I'll even buy you a virtual drink!
Date: 4/11/2008 10:57:00 AM  From Authorid: 64614    I agree with Ginger....She said it for me! :-P Thanks, Ginger! ^_^ -Lightning13-
Date: 4/13/2008 6:49:00 AM  From Authorid: 37101    In my experience, the most intricately planned out parties are usually the ones that perform the worst. Find some people, put your collective heads together, and fly on the seat of your pants. -
Date: 5/13/2008 4:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 54406    Sounds like you're thinking with a negative attitude too much. You're never going to see the positive (like things you can enjoy etc.) If you're looking for the negative in every situation.
Date: 5/13/2008 4:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 54406    But for some suggestions.. You could do a potluck at your place (or a friends)
Your food would be covered and your guests won't have to worry about the cost involved. (one of the main reasons people don't show up to restaurants...)
