Reality Argument: That the NDE feels so real that they be what they appear, a journey to the next world. A:As biological organisms-it is useful for us to seperate what is real and what is not-we build "mind models" some real some imaginary. The most stable and persistent ones are based on the senses. The ones that affect the limbic system,in certain ways are "familiar and meaningful,in other words it is a visual construction based on our senses and our PROPRIOCEPTION (detects internal stimuli and allows a good body image to build up) 3] Paranormal arguement: That NDEs involve paranormal events which cannot be explained by science.Scince they cannot be explained normally it must be evidence of another dimension, another world, or the existence of a non material spirit or soul A: No evidence B: The dying brain hypothesis explains why people seek paanormal evidence to bolster their impressions of realness and how the stories are passed on and elaborated Transformation Argument: That people are changed by NDEs sometimes for the better, becomeing more spiritual and less materialistic. A. This is a general assumption B. One is simply being made to think about death which affects a person's priorites deeply. Can make a person become less selfish, provokes insight that the self is a mental construction. That all struggles, attachments, and suffering of life that depends on this artificial construction Can Be Let Go.There never was a Solid Self and there is no one to die with this insight;fear is left behind-and Life can be Lived more Directly and Fully.........All these ideas come from the book Dying to Live/Promethues Books 1993 How it changed my life:Helps me understand the natural occurances of death You can join Unsolved Mysteries and post your own mysteries or interesting stories for the world to read and respond to Click hereScroll all the way down to read replies.Show all stories by Author: 51876 ( Click here )
