I'd tell you of what I heard the
wind whisper the other day
and of the philosophical discussion
between a wandering pidgeon
and I, but
it might blow your mind
and you might think I've
been taking something
no, nothing
besides motrin
I'd say

but you wouldn't believe me

I'd tell you
of how I'd crossed the seven seas
floating on a dry beech leaf
and how I flew over Los Angelos
at midnight
just because I could

and when I jumped
from the top of the Eiffel
landed in Egypt
burrowed to Hawaii
and ate a whale
in Iceland

and that would be a lie
because my stomach's not that huge

ever wonder what the leaves are saying
about the wind
when it blusters past
wonder

inside a seashell
where the ocean goes
when you take it from your ear

I thought they were all a bunch of old wive's bedtime stories
spun out of nothing and preception
Cinderella's stepsisters and their bleeding toe stumps

but I was wrong
