Rika , I'm proud of you the way you explained and wrote your story. You seem like a very understanding and reasonable person. I would suggest you ask the manager to ask the person above or even get the company's employees manual and read what it says. There are a couple of things to look into. If you have a chance of bettering yourself as becoming manager some day that would be a great benefit for you. You seem to enjoy all of your co-workers and party with them so I would think about it. I also have to agree with you that you should have some fun when you want too. ..............Clifford |

Do it anyway, and go in to see your manager early before your first shift after your hair is colored- show him/her, so whoever is in charge can see that you have tasteful hair color, even if that is "not the way natural hair grows." If they see it before you go barging into work one day, they'll see it as less of a rebellious act and more of a "I wanted to do this so I did- here is the result before I make an appearance in front of customers." |

Actually, seeing that would make me want to come back… even if you had your facial piercings in. I mean, I don’t have any piercings or plan on getting any, but that’s for me. I love seeing people express themselves and be as unique as they can be. I express myself in other ways. I think that it’s good that you’re going to do it anyway. If you present yourself in the same manner as your write (respectfully, polity, and really well) I’m certain you’ll keep your job. And... off of this subject, you should write another fiction story really soon. I loved your last one |

I would be irritated. Like you said, I would understand them getting upset if you walked in with pink hair but lowlights? As long as your hair looks clean and well groomed, it should not be a problem. What are they going to complain about next? Gray hair? Geez. |

Personally, I find people who do what they want in pursuit of being themselves to be the most attractive. I'd come back. |

If you were making 50,000 a year I would understand thier concern for image, I would do what you want with your hair. You could always wear it up or pulled back. Rage against the machine while you still can! |
